Massive congratulations!

Got to say, one of the few highlights of the season for me as an Albion fan was the point we got at WHL last week.

Enjoy!

Genuine question - is there another club like ours in the world?

I've been to play off finals. League cup finals. I've been to Madrid to watch us play in Europe, I've seen us win at Anfield and Old Trafford and I've also seen us lose away at Gillingham and Doncaster.

Is there another club whose supporters have been to so many massive games, been on such gut wrenching lows, watched brilliant football and absolute dross. Promoted or relegated so many times, and now we've won the bloody Premier League!!!

There can't be another club like Leicester City anywhere and I wouldn't swap the last twenty odd years of supporting and following them for anything.

You wonder what the fallout of this will be. Will West Ham, Southampton, Bournemouth all look at this and say: "Next season, why not us?" Will the big clubs - and moreover the players at those clubs - look on and think "we should/can do better than this".

I've said it before on here, but it's still relevant: When we got promoted, I thought the absolute maximum we could achieve was an FA Cup win and a spot in the Europa League, say around a 6th place finish. I know of some who didn't even particularly like the prospect of being in the Premier League because it simply wouldn't be as much fun getting regular pastings from top clubs, and that the Championship was a more exciting place to be. It must be the same for clubs in a similar position to us. Perhaps all this is a reminder that it needn't be that way.

I received below mail this morning from colleague/friend in Germany-

John,

congratulation for the sensation!!!!!

For a lot of football friends in Europe it is a big sign of hope that team spirit and enthusiasm is able to beat the money. Not always, of course, but sometime!

John, my friend, enjoy this big victory!!!!

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards / 诚挚问候

it reflects the impact of this success all over the world

It means for people who want to believe that their own club can achieve great things but are ultimately hampered by a permanent glass ceiling. That, while it remains highly likely, there is nothing inevitable about victory only following wealth.

Incidentally, it seems we've had a tweet of congratulations from the president of Rwanda. For some reason I think that's awesome.
