Get Rashford doing what Iheanacho is doing for City and we have a great set-up. We just need a top striker who won't have the inconsistency a young player like Rashford would have, especially in that difficult second season and we're all set.

Rashford has far more than just finishing. He ha quick feet, makes intelligent runs, links up really well, has moment of flair, certainly isn't scared of anybody.

He isn't entirely consistent, he's learning the game as you'd expect. But most good parts of our play he's involved in.

I agree totally he's just not quite ready to spend a full season as our first choice number 9

Rashford is great.

His link up play is pretty poor. Agree with the rest.

Your probably right Robb, but there have been some top players who didn't have a difficult second season.

He should get capital one cup and Europa league games and plenty of cameos in the league next season.

Really pleased we have him. One of the brightest points of a fairly drab season. Still torn on whether I would have him as back-up next year to a new signing or as first choice. One of many questions for the club to ponder...

There's also the option of playing him wide as well. Something which could benefit his all round play.

Yes I agree. Need to give him 20 games though if possible.

I think it would be unfair on Rashford to make him our number one striker next season.

He's playing on adrenaline at the moment but after a summer off he'll come back and possibly will start to feel the pressure of leading the line for a club under huge pressure to make the CL.

Don't see why we need to put the kid in that position. He has plenty of time to get game time but just not as the focal point straight away.

He played as a winger in the youth setup

I can definitely see this viewpoint. But I just wonder who we could actually get in to be first choice (I am not sold on Ibrahimovich). We could splurge a fortune on someone who's less productive than Rashford has been.

Like you say, though, making a teenager our main striker is a big decision. Yes, we threw Rooney in at nineteen but he'd established himself over two seasons at Everton, starred in the Euros for England and he had Van Nistelrooy as a partner and Saha and Smith to step in.

It's a tough call.

Yeah I know. So it's a position he's familiar with.

He doesn't get that involved in build up as he loses the ball too much in the congested areas in the middle of the pitch. Playing wide would give him more space and help him devlop by getting more involved at premier league level. Similar thing can be said of Martial.

Rashford beat Falcao record of last season. In fact Rashford matched Falcao and Di Maria goal tally from last season this season and he only started playing late February.

Wasn't Falcao's record four goals?

posted on 17/5/16

Yeah Falcao scored 4 goals all in the league. Di Maria scored 3 league goals and 1 late on in fa cup so both scored 4 Rashford scored 8 and had nearly half as many appearances as either of these players.

If we had Rashford all season we would have walked the league imo. The player that we missed the most but thats football.

I doubt he'll make the final cut, to be honest. No complaints about that either. His time will come.

Hodgson would have taken Welbeck ahead of Rashford even if Welbeck hadn't played a game this season but had a chacne of getting fit for euros. He won't take Shaw but will take Wilshere

I believe We need a top CF to take the pressure off Rashford. Plenty of fixtures to allow him game time next season but I don't think he should be relied upon for goals week in, week out as he has been this season.

I don't think it matters whether he is considered "first choice" for next season.

You need a pool of top quality strikers if you want to compete on all fronts. When we had Yorke, Cole, Teddy and Ole I doubt the manager decided in advance what his first choice pairing was going to be. He just knew he had great options to pick from.

Form and injuries will then decide which strikers get the most game time. I.e. Yorke and Cole became our first choice pair because of how they played that season - not because it was predetermined in the summer.
