Incidentally, 60 points last season could have seen us finish 6th again, depending on goal difference.

maybe Tiddles, maybe. but losing last night put a huge dent in the summer hopes, and hopes for next season for Klopp. will now struggle to attract the calibre of player required to take you up the league imo.
tactically yesterday was appalling from Klopp, if I was a Liverpool fan I would be quite concerned.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No doubt it makes things harder, but not impossible.
Leicester have shown just this season that there are gems to be found in kante.
And klopp himself bought unknowns and turned them into stars in the form of hummels, pisczeck, lewandowski, and kagawa. All no names before klopp bought them.
Yesterday was poor, but I've seen enough progression under klopp to be happy with the direction the club is moving in

2 cup finals this year compared to 0 cup finals last year.
Backwards you say? Interesting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
6th best team in England last season. 8th best team in England this season.
What would you call it? Progression?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
An embarrassment in Europe last season, runners up this season.
Would you call that progression?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely.
So progression in a secondary European knockout competition, whilst regression in domestic league....I'm not sure you can argue a case overall for that being progression?
It's fine margins. If you'd have won last night, it would have been seen as a great season.

But phil, just 2 points worse off than last season and 2 finals compared to none last season. Surely that is no progression in the league, but not any real regression either. And then a large amount of progression in the cups?
perhaps the fact that everyone seemed to expect Klopp to turn things around straight away and have Liverpool challenging, is muddying the waters?
if I recall correctly, the bookies saw quite a lot of money put on Liverpool to win the title as soon as the appointment of Klopp was announced.
what actually happened though, was the same inconsistent performances and overall a very poor campaign. (perhaps aside from the Dortmund tie, in which Liverpool were very good, and the away win at man city)
Absolutely, anyone who thought klopp would come in and have us soaring up challenging for the title doesn't know a great deal about football or klopps style.
It's the same as poch in regards to high tempo high pressure football, and all the players need to be at a certain fitness in order to play it. Pochs first season was decent, but he only accumulated 64 points, just 4 more than klopp and klopp didn't have a full season with this side.
It's taken a while, but we were just starting to show some consistency up until the Southampton match really, where we blew our chance to jump back into the top 4 race. The players went off the boil and we've been inconsistent again.
only consistent thing about Liverpool is you know they will turn up against spurs.
its very annoying
Very true.

No, this guy knows all about shocking players. He's a Manyoo fan
We don't have as many as Liverpool but yes you are correct.
Klopp has not improved Liverpool one iota, I don`t buy the `they are not his players` excuse, any manager worth his salt should be able to arrive and improve any squad of players, Klopp has made Pool worse.
I can not see much improvement next year either, where are all these `Klopp players` going to come from, they have no Europe to attract players and will be well down the pecking order when it comes to bidding for new signings, the only thing Pool have going for them is the ability to pay good wages, in which case they may pick up a few journeymen and mercenaries.
I also think one or two of Pool`s better players may get cherry picked by bigger clubs and others may demand to leave in search of European football.
I can not understand a word Klopp says it his interviews, all he does is mumble inane nonsense and a lot of the time his players put inane nonsense on the pitch also.
Klopps had 50+ games. He had a window. Even Sherwood got Spurs' to 5th with a 60% win percentage.
Sure he needs to implement changes but this has not been a good first 50 games. 8th is very poor.

Sherwood got spurs 5th, then poch with a full season had you finish 6th.
Did poch take you backwards or is it that playing a high tempo full pressing game takes time for the players to adjust to?
Apologies, you finished 5th again.
Hardly progressing though was it
Klopp will have a lot of pressure on him this season either for a trophy or a top 4 finish. If neither happens, then he could well be gone!

Personally I don't mind Klopp, a charismatic guy but what I think he will need to reflect on is his antics on the side lines. I think it's all very well doing this at Dortmund, a club permanently in Munich's shadow where 2nd is success. LFC fans do not accept or expect that at LFC, the expectation and pressure is full on and charisma and quirky antics count for shiiit if you do not deliver and will begin to annoy if Klopp does not bring home the bacon. No doubt he is very serious and passionate but I personally think he needs to tone down his antics or he might become a bit of a laughing stock, and not viewed seriously. When success come then sure, act like a clown, but until then people will just think you are a clown.
