For sure, those Scandinavians are terrible footballers when stacked against the English, well if you ignore results of course.
Just the usual arrogance based on zero.
Not all Scandinavians. Just him.
In any case, and to be fair, he wasn't the only player who failed to score last season.
Denmark has one fully professional league of 12 teams, with the lower leagues being largely semi-pro or amateur.
Norway has a top flight of 16 teams, with a few regularly appearing in Europe whilst the rest make up the numbers. Similar in stature to the Scottish prem. the lower leagues are again mostly semi-pro and amateur
Sweden follows the same pattern as above, with a top league featuring a handful of teams benefitting from the finances that the 1 or 2 places a year in Europe provides, and limited competition to shake up the hierarchy.
EUFA has Sweden, Denmark and Norway in 18/20/21st places in relation to the strength of their top league compared to the other European countries. on that basis, I think it is reasonable to suggest that the majority of Scandinavian football is on a par with England's lowest professional level. siggy going to join the squad of one of the bigger teams means he should be guaranteed lots of silverware and easier goal scoring opportunities to bolster his confidence. a bit like signing for celtic or rangers, and picking up trophies as part of their title and cup winning squads.
But yet England's record since 1980 is 14-16-11
Bizarre England can't dominate a bunch of pub players isn't it?
Midget land knocked out our 7th best club last season and also beat our fifth best.
Fact is that English football is nowhere near as good as some want to think and given the outrageous disparity in money it should be absolutely dominating European football but yet struggles to even get teams to the quarter finals in recent times.
Scandinavia's top leagues are on a par with our mediocre championship.

Ah did he? I thought all the best players were seeded and spread across the draw, don't recall anyone reaching the semis without winning a game?

Lendl
My fave player growing up.
The guy who beat Federer was the underdog, yes, and we all love an underdog, as you know. But does that mean he's better? Maybe check the rankings. Knock-out competitions often throw up anomalies, which is the beauty of them. (Not like a league, where consistency results in a true champion, such as Leicester).

Hope France win this so we get a worthy champion.
Yes that must be tough for him, I once had to miss my under 14's cup finals, so I know how he must be feeling !
Get well soon Ronny
Agreed.
Wanna see the best play it out on the field
In the 1998 final at the same stadium, Brazil's Ronaldo came down with a mysterious illness which meant we didn't see the best of him. He was probably the best striker in the world at the time.
Now in 2016 Portugal's Ronaldo has had to go off injured. Spooky.
Ha figo looks about as excited as everyone else with a giant yawn
