But you're adding a caveat, based on his own performances for the club it was a failure given his previous. Not denying the reasons for it and, by all accounts, the knowledge he'd passed on to some of our other players. But I still think you could include him in the list.

Certainly highly rated before he came to England, good enough to play at Parma when they were good.
Unfortunately he'd begun to eat his own body weight in pasta every day by the time he came to the PL.

Has anyone mentioned Gerrard yet?...
Luque was a great player.
Shout with Kluivert btw Darren, although he was still pretty good. Him and Shearer as a partnership when both were past it were still pretty deadly.

You say that but then again how many 'great players' have actaully came to the PL ?
Only a handfull,and some of those players were clearly past it.
