Didn't we spend about 6 million last year on players?

Not including loan fees.

If so Inthink if we spend that on the right players it will help us move forward.

I'm very interested to see what signings are made, I think with monk in charge we might also see some good loans come in

Good appointment

Now money needs to be spent

Those the big IF's!
IF Cellino invests in the team without undermining what we have with player sales
IF Cellino allows Monk to manage

posted on 4/6/16

Even if he was 3rd choice, at least we were looking at managers here, not some foreign manager who wouldn't know anything about English football. I would have been happy with Clarke, Monk is a big signing for us though. We've got a manager that people have heard of.

Like said though, none of that matters unless we give him money and time.

Without wishing to state the blindingly obvious the key for the club going forward is to direct all energies, efforts and resources towards building and improving the team that takes the field.

Scouting, coaching, medical support, recruitment, the academy all pulling in the same direction and actually looking like a football club rather than a freak show for the tabloids to feast upon. I feel that it will take a change of ownership to get this in place long term, but getting Monk in and some quality players would be a good start.

Agreed Rob. I can't see Cellino here in 12 months.

Monk has to be allowed to manage or it won't work. Interference in any industry is undermining and counter productive.

General consensus coming out of the club is its a good appointment but.....
No chance with Cellino at the helm, off his head all the time, set ups a shambles, will Cellino learn ? Can Monk change things ? Don't hold your breath

The only way this can work is if Cellino takes his managers head off and sends it gift rapped one way to Worzel Gummidge, he'd more than likely put it to better use!..

Like some have said and been shown in the past, a manacoach has nothing to do at Leeds!..

Let the manager be a manager and give him time and resources needed to do what he has to do, than maybe what is wanted will be delivered!..

Stevie

Very happy with Monk. And agree with Matty's assessment that the amount we spent last season
should see us right. And I do think Monk will
attract good players. Better still, I think Cook and
the rest of our kids will want to stay because of him.

Don, what are you hearing about Barattieri? Is he
having influence? I feel good about him. But, as
always, I could be bang wrong.

Stevie, good thread.

Personally I am not sure on Monk. I like him, he has PL experience as a coach at one club (a club he knew well) and he does come across well in interview. However I am not sure he has enough experience for him to be an instant success at LUFC. And in all honesty he will need to be or he'll be out on his ear.

Re Mr Cellino,

As you say he does want to move on.

Red Bull decided against Leeds for unknown reasons. They did lengthy due diligence (but they stopped and did not finalise anything)...? Worrying.

Steve Parkin had the rug pulled by his wife. He wants the club, he loves the club, but they risk losing everything if they buy it and it is not a success. Mrs Parkin is the one that said no. She also feels that the abuse Mrs Bates got and the Cellino family have received is not worth the hassle. In any event if Parkin was to venture down that track he would need a financial backer to go in with him, he's not found one.

Parkin however feels sponsoring the stand is his way of breaking in to Leeds. He feels it is a good initial step, a stepping stone. He is being as supportive as he can at this moment.

The Chinese Consortium that was looking at Leeds wanted to sell Thorp Arch for real estate, they wanted to sell ER and build a new stadium nearby. Cellino pulled the plug on that. He thinks he can do that if they can do that...? That's how deluded he is. They have walked.

Cellino does want to sell, he is not happy. But he does not want to give the club away. Get a sensible bid and he'll probably accept, the sad thing is no one knows what he thinks is a sensible bid, and in truth it is rumoured that folk that know him don't think even he knows.

All told to me this week by someone with a link to Parkin

I wish Monk well, he'll need all the luck he can get.

so fans venomously abusing owners has a direct negative impact on the club itself. I wish they had the sense to realise that!

I wish we had owners which didn't do things for them to be abused

posted on 4/6/16

Did the Chinese lot walk away once they realised neither Thorp Arch nor ER were actually owned by the club, so they wouldn't have anything to sell?

Peak, I have a feeling that the 'Chinese' group you're referencing are the group that now own Villa. Could be wrong here. But, we have Stoopo who has knowledge of that Chinese group. Maybe he can confirm?

I have a feeling that even when anything happens we wont know buck fizz untill after it happens!..

As sad as life can be, it'll never say the truth even when it happens!.

Here's hoping the sad side off life isn't to far away?..

"fans venomously abusing owners has a direct negative impact on the club itself."

I suggest that current and prior owners have brought upon themselves due to the disdain and disrespect they have shown for their fans.

Strange how the numpties are not seeing the point, it's not the owners or past owners only that are being affected. If you read the comments properly, you'll realise that the actions and venom presented by a moronic few to the current and previous regime spouses (warranted or not to the owner) that has damaged the prospects of a buy out by an individual universally accepted as a genuine Leeds United fan, one who wants to do the club good.

Interesting stuff Eric. Whilst there's no doubt that in different ways each of our last 3 owners have not done themselves any favours with their running of the club to say the least, there'll always be people in this day and age who take it too far and target families and act like the tough guy. I don't like it, it's not acceptable but it will keep happening. Sadly every club, every celebrity on social media etc attracts this venemous attention.I know that some would say Cellino's family with their provocative instagram posts and offensive statements have made themselves fair game to this sort of attention.

It seems that Parkin has that love of the club that those owners/prospective owners don't have but frustratingly not the financial power needed to really make a difference in this world of parachute payments and billionaire backers. If he could just find somebody to come in with him that may be the key.

It would not matter if we had Jose Mourinho as manager, a club, company or any organisation cannot thrive in a negative culture and philosophy that Cellino has built.

Leeds is run by a megalomaniac with a massive ego and even less patience, this is not a recipe for success, he has treated employees of past terribly and lost so many court cases.

What makes anyone think he will suddenly be a great guy to work for and establish a positive culture. It is not going to happen, I hope I am wrong but Leeds under Cellino is always likely to be sh*t.

League Leader.

Well intentioned, good prospective owners should recognize that they will be given a chance. Yes, there will always be a bunch of people one cannot make happy but even now thousands are still behind the Big C as they were behind Bates until the better end, even a few on this thread.

Blimey JLA never thought you would concede that...!

Whay are thousands still behind him....?

I do however agree with this comment by you "...Well intentioned, good prospective owners should recognize that they will be given a chance..."

But you may need to look at some of your close bosom buddies and advise them that they need to give folk time, before before you go preaching to everyone else...!

League Leader

The malaise was here at Leeds before Massimo Cellino came. He didn't build that. Admitted he has added to the woes, but he's not responsible for all of them. There have been failings at Leeds since Peter Ridsdale's time.

I heard a cracker today, this'll cheer everyone (or perhaps not!)

I was told today that if Leeds gain promotion to the PL there is a clause in the deal with GFH that they will be rewarded for their assistance with a considerable dividend payout..! Millions...!!

You couldn't make it up could you..?
