And Sheikh Mansour isn't going anywhere. As the chairman said yesterday, City are now self sustainable. Next year, City will make a very decent profit and the following season the profits will shoot up when the new PL tv deal kicks in.

City are in a very healthy state financially. Their aim is to win the title each season. It's not to finish 4th and be happy with the CL money. It's not to finish 5th-8th and be happy with the commercial deals being out of the stratosphere. That's why City spend so much each summer on new players. Arsenal can do the same if they want. They choose not to. United are trying to do the same, but they aren't going the whole hog as the Glaziers want to take home as much money as they can. Same with Liverpool to some extent.

In fact, Sheikh Mansour sold a small stake to the Chinese which valued City at £2 billion. Not bad for noisy neighbours!

Keeping the rulers of a resource rich region happy is just common sense.

Meanwhile the rest of football can go feck themselves, whilst the mega rich Hoover up all the trophies. great to have real competive leagues across Europe. Not.

Who voted for FFP? Many clubs in the PL wanted it just for purely selfish reasons. If Spurs were one of the 'elite' you wouldn't be complaining. The PL is competitive. 4 different clubs have won it these last 4 seasons. That isn't too shabby. Juve are in a one team wins it every year league. So are Bayern. PSG won their league by so many points that it was ridiculous. At least there's some competition in Spain.

Now's your chance at Spurs. the CL money will give you a massive lift. Maybe £30M next season. The new PL money will give you a massive lift (£50M+ next season). Your new stadium will give you a massive lift when it is reality. You've got so much new money coming into the club that you shouldn't be seen as a selling club anymore. Just think how good you could have been if you'd kept Modric and Bale? Now you've got the money, and the CL prestige, to do just that.

Everton have a rich new owner who's pumping money into the club and they are expected to spend heavily, I assume there will be articles on the United board critisizing this also.

This article appears to be less about why people don't understand FFP and far more about why they don't understand City's changing financial position.

Most fans of other clubs don't know the ins and outs of other teams, not entirely sure why you've taken such offence at it.

Personally I think it's quite an exciting time for the EPL. Some of the top managers in the world here and trying to bring the best players in the world with them. Would be nice to see English teams with a decent chance of winning the CL again.

Actually, it's a bit of both. Seeing as it's on the City pages, you'd expect a fair bit about City. Since it helping to 'educate' those posters on the Utd. board who don't understand FFP (whilst criticising City) it's on their board too.

There's a big chunk on amortisation for you to get your teeth around if you don't understand FFP.

It's been around for donkey's years anyway so why haven't people cottoned on to it rather than just whinge?

Keep continuing with the myth that spurs don't spend. You just spend stupidly.

I'd have thought the simple answer to the original question is "because most people don't care".

Now, you could then say that people on here shouldn't discuss things they don't understand, but that would take away 80% of the site no?

Nice one U2. I've have to admit, I wasn't as brushed up on the workings of the FFP until you threw this thread up. Not as complex as I once thought.

Great article, the bitterness on this site aimed at the players we are lookong to sign is unreal.

United fans are finding it a tough pill to swallow that despite being one of the richest clubs in the world they just can't attract top talent anymore and we are more an attractive proposition for playerd these days

Sure they have signed Ibrahimovic and he will probably score 15-20 goals next year and provide some "Hilarious" Quotes but fact is he was brought in to sell shirts abroad which is sadly all the United hierarchy seem to be interested in these days.

Makes me laugh how city fans compare their deals with far bigger clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool, United and even Chelsea.

Oh, so your saying, the top tallents you signed finished with the same amount of points as the 'none tallents' we signed? Ok, good we cleared that up.

Idiot!

The only reason you got a sniff of being near us is due to the internal problems at our club, we are miles ahead of you on and off the pitch these days

The desperate appointment of Mourinho will give you some breathing room and short terms success but your problems won't go away no matter how many times you stick your badge on a pack of noodles in Korea.

Enjoy a summer of big names players flirting with you to get themselves bumper new contracts at their club while we snap up the top talent around the world.....Power shift is complete, feels good ahhhhhhhh.....

No he didn't. He sold a stake of the group (including the other football clubs and all other entities).
