we need a better GK and RB
im not sure we will stick to the 4-3-3
could revert to 4-2-3-1
Definitely need another Cb even just for cover. Also need cover for both full back position as currently there is none.
We are well served in midfield.
A finisher up front would be nice.

We really need at least one more CB to make sure Wilson and Kiernan don't start!
Really quite excited at the prospect of Barton and Rossiter in midfield along with Windass.
I think we really need a front man like a Prso or Hately.

I know, it's wishful thinking
Still you never know...
I'm really surprised at the hate for Tavernier. There was a period last year when you were all talking about him being a £2m+ player and his goal return was spectacular. I get that he's flawed defensively but he seems a real asset to your squad. I don't get why you all want rid of him.

Why the fook do people not want Tav?
FFS
It's not his fault he gets caught out. It's the way we play. You wouldn't ditch a top goalie cos he went up for a corner and caught on the break.
"I'm really surprised at the hate for Tavernier."
No one hates him. He's just not a right back! Would be far better utilised in right midfield. Still a £2m player IMO but as a midfielder.
Agree I have no issue with tav. I just want a full back in that can provide cover.
If tav or Wallace had got injured we had nobody
Also let's see how the defence does with proper Dm in the side.
Especially if as Dennis is guessing we go 4-2-3-1 where we would have to DM provide cover when everyone goes forward.
That formation actually looks better for our squad

It sounds a bit like the issues we had at times with Izzaguire. More than capable going forward from defence but caught out too often.
From what I've seen of him he looks decent, but for example was caught way out of position in the second goal for us at Hampden.
Goal scoring full backs are good to have though; if he can keep scoring in the SPL then I'd be in no rush to sell him.
Like SPR says if we can get a GOOD CB to cover for Tav when he bombs forward in place of Kiernan then fine.
His goals are priceless though.

I do like Tav although his goals and assists did paper over his defensive issues for the majority of last season.
Maybe he took the games to easy? When he knew he had to focus 100% against Celtic he played well.
I was concerned that Stokes ripped him a new one in the final - hopefully playing better teams week in week out will help him out defensively
Its a different kettle of fish in the premiership

Woah woah woah woah woah.
I thought there was very little difference between the Premiership and the Championship? That's what we kept hearing last season anyway.
its not hate, its realisation that the manager wont alter his tactics in a game, regardless of how we are doing or more importantly how the opposition is doing
Tav has been roasted this season by Falkirk and Hibs players
next season he will be seen as a weak link in defence and will be up against better players.
therefore imo we need a better RB, one who wont abandon his most important aspect which is defending. times last season when we were getting hit on counter, him and Wallace were just jogging back to help out the 2 CB

He had a bad final, but like I say so did the whole team. We had an off day for various reasons, it doesn't mean suddenly guys who performed week in week out aren't good enough in my opinion.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the way that Hibs had obviously planned their attack and fully exploited our weakness down the right that I found most alarming.

yep
and Falkirk done it mid game in march and beat us 3-2
nothing gets done to address that flaw, that's what worries me. I am all for setting our stall out to play a certain way but being ignorant when its not working of opposition have a good plan that's working is silly and naïve

I think it depends how MW sees Crooks role that will change that. Not sure if he will be played as a CB. Hopefully both Wilson and Kiernan will be replaced, with a defensive midfielder providing cover in defence when one of the full backs goes forward.
One thing for sure is our central defensive partnership needs overhauled and is a priority. Wilson is a maybe for the squad but Kiernan ain't good enough.

Hins knew Tavernier would push forward and that it would expose Kiernan. Kiernan's efforts at the opening goal were unbelievable. He didn't even try and close stokes down at all - I kept thinking he'll come across now surely - maybe now - he needs to come across now - Oh FFS.
He's much more of a concern that Tavernier.
Stokes first goal was one of the most shocking examples of defensive ineptitude I've ever seen!
