A lot of the policies suggested by the gun-control lobby concerning background checks would still have failed to stop the shooter. Quite simply, citizens simply should be allowed to carry assault weapons.

Trump may be a bigoted, bordering stupid nationalist, but he's the only man who we can say has the thoughts of himself and the American people at heart.
--------------------------

Trump is as big a self-absorbed narcissist as you'll ever see. The notion he has any altruistic bone in his body is laughable given the evidence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't get me wrong, I don't for a second think Trump understands what he's getting himself into. I'm not defending his views nor to I believe he is even close being a good president.

However, we have seen presidents in the past funded by those with financial gains, be is oil or weapons, and have always ended badly for the world.

Trump is the only one who self funded his campaign, who doesn't owe anybody any favours, When the chance of war arises, he won't have have those who build the nations weapons putting their 2 pence in.

looool....I meant "...SHOULDN'T be allowed to carry assault weapons". Not "should".

Is there any chance of Bernie Sanders making president? He is the most normal candidate who speaks so much sense the Americans have.

---------------------

Trump is not self-funding his campaign. He solicits donations and since becoming presumptive nominee, he is coordinating with the Republican fundraising apparatus and super-PACS. And the fact a narcissist like him (an ignorant one for that matter) would be uncontrollable by the establishment makes him even more scary.

None. Its a shat show of candidates and sadly the better options didn't get involved. Paul Ryan will likely run next time, Biden would have been interesting and even Romney may have been interesting to hear.

Trump talks complete crap but none of his policies would stick so he isn't half as dangerous as people want to pretend.

Hillary will win anyway and that way will see the good work Obama has done at least get continued for the most part.

No chance in hell. "Socialism" is a dirty word among many numbskulls in the US. Funny enough, Sanders destroys Trump in national head-to-head polling. But that might have somerhing to do with the fact no one has even started with him to smear him. Hillary has been taking hits for over 25 years and is toxic to many voters.

If Sanders runs then Trump has won. The only person Sanders would be stealing votes from is Clinton.

And while he is a billionaire I understand he is unable to fund the presidential campaign himself and will have to source donors:

Trump wouldn't fire a nuclear missile ffs, he will have the same amount of advisors as all previous presidents.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And what makes you think he'll listen to his advisors?

I thought the president can't launch an nuclear war on his own but I was wrong.

Of course when elected, the new president appoints their own advisors (usually yes men) so why would Trump be any different?

Who would have the balls to stop Trump from starting just a small nuclear war to get his point across?

Or who is to stop people launching weapons at America due to Trump being a complete nobend?

Yesterday's horrific events will definitely lead many voters back to his side.
---------------------------------------
The statement above suggests the OP is probably speculating and has no clue how the US electorate works.

Trump on realizing that he was the least suited candidate among the GOP candidates decided to whip up a fervor among disgruntled republicans in order to win the primaries. It worked for the primaries but that strategy cannot work for the National election.

Now that he must win the National election he has to find a new way to entice voters and he is hopping the fear of americans will translate into votes.

unfortunately he went too far left in the primaries there is no way back

It was funny seeing him preach about equality among americans and no racial bias when thats what he has been preeeching for 9 months. The electorate see him for what he is. He wont get Bernies voters, he wont get elizabeth Warrens voters, he will lose a few GOP voters, he will lose probably all minorities and he will also lose young voters and new voters.

The whole thing is hilarious.Hillary might actually thump him at the polls.

Hillary would make a good president, imo. She has a good understanding of policy and the levers of power in washington, shows passion for the cause of groups seeking equality, has the right temperament and tons of experience. She's perhaps a tad too hawkish in her foreign policy for my liking, but the choice between her and Trump is a clear one. It's hard to believe there are people insane enough to draw a false equivalence in the unsuitability of both. It's too long to enummerate all the ways Trump is unfit to be President and commander in chief.

I actually think the presidential debate must be cancelled altogether as Trump will make it a farce

Except that the majority of independent voters (not aligned to either of the 2 major parties) are firmly against what Obama has done and see a vote for Clinton as a vote for more of the same.

A lot of these independent voters are willing to vote for Trump, not because they want him to win but because they don't want Clinton to win.

A hateful islamic nutter with a score to settle took a knife to the underground and attacked commuters in the UK; he was subdued and arrested. In the US a similarly crazy, hateful individual instead of a knife can stroll into a gun shop, buy an assault automatic rifle, load up on high powered ammunition and kill fifty people in cold blood.
Would be long in coming but someday "we the people" would have to sit round a table and talk about this so called right to bear arms.

How come US authorities don't bring strict laws on buying guns/ammunition for civilians?

posted on 13/6/16

I understand Clinton is widely disliked but can’t believe it could be as much as Trump.

Putting policy aside he’s a political novice. The fact that he’s actually being considered for POTUS reflects the dire state of US politics.

In regard to American gun laws I can’t see anything happening (regardless of the amount of deaths) as (1) too many people want guns, and (2) more importantly. there are too many involved at the top of the tree that have no desire to seek change.
