Wouldn't it have been better to have stayed in the EU and tried to change the EU laws from within? Whether there was to be a points system, quota system or any other system that could control the immigration to better provide for our economy?

For those of you in the know. If Turkey or whoever joined the EU and mass immigration was happening, what benefits would Turkey be giving to us, or rather, the rest of the EU nations?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ideally we would stay in but there wouldn't be any reform, if we got nothing when there was a chance of us leaving then we're hardly gonna change their minds if we vote to stay? That's basically why I voted leave, we have no power to change things which don't work for us.

Took me several days to find out a vote for Leave was in fact a vote for qualified African doctors.

That's ok then.

Where did you find this little gem. I'd like to read it myself.

I wish you could have provided a link before the vote, then I might not have voted to stay

we don't know yet, it depends on what we negotiate. If we end up staying in the single market and having the same system of freedom of movement then yeah leaving will be utterly pointless
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you believe that we will be able to negotiate trade deals with EU that don't require freedom of movement and at least some EU laws & regulations and that will not require the UK to pay a large proportion of the EU contributions we do now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Canada has a trade agreement with the UK. Both sides will have to made concessions but we should be out of freedom of movement otherwise there was no point leaving.

dumb question, but if a dozen member of the shadow cabinet have no faith in corbyn, why not just mount a leadership challenge, rather than resigning en masse?

And as for the racist/xenophobic card being playerd by the left wing remainers, would you prefer to bring in a well qualified African doctor to work in teh NHS or give priority over a white Polish Sports Direct worker on a zero hours contract who gets priority while we are in teh EU?

The other advantage is that it also gives all those African health systems the opportunity to offload all its excess qualified personnel.

Now, now, you'll be accused of being racist against Scots. Dont forget there was a similar accident at somewhere like Thorpe Park or wherever.

Anything less than 5 years for the recovery will be better than I expect. But I think in 20, 30, 40 or more years we will be stronger for it. Oh wait, easnt it Camerons arguement that staying in is for the long term.

I really wish someone (Boris or Gove) would put their hat into the ring as candidate for Tory leader.

Then we will see who has the bottle to invoke article 50 and be remembered for royally fuсkіng over the UK.

Currently we are in limbo. We are still in EU but have no voice, our EU commissioner resigned over the weekend. Why should they listen to anything we have to say? After all, we have just told them we don't like the way they do business and that they have nothing to offer us anyway.

** Conspiracy theory hat on **
The EU want us out ASAP so they can make an example of us to scare other nations (some of whom are due elections) out of having a referendum.

Putting you agenda to one side, of course the EU want us out. Merkel has an agenda of protecting German business as well though, and we are their second biggest market. If they try to screw us over they will also be scrwwing themselves over. 45% of our trade is with Europe. If they dont play ball it will have a huge effect on the European economies and could trigger the collapse of the Euro and possibly the EU. Both sides have a lot to gain from a quick and amicable agreement.
