What we need and what we will get are two very different things.

Personally, I think we need a better backup keeper and an AM, preferably with pace.

But I would be shocked to see us bring in anyone else after Janssen, but even if we only bring in him and Wanyama I'd still be happy with our business

If we had to go in to the season now, there is not an area we are desperate for cover in, we could muddle through.

My preference though, in order:

1. Another rightfooted centreback. Been over this on many an article, but the gist is I do not want Dier covering Toby A, and I do not see CCV being ready yet. I do not care if it is a 34yr old, as long as he is fit, mobile, rightfooted, and knows he may have a splintered aris. I just do not want to see Dier having to play at the back at all.

2. Another quick LB. Not convinced by Davies as a LB in our set up, although I rate him as a player. Not dynamic emough. Not a priority though, and I would not mind seeing him at LCB at some point. Trippier I have seen enough to be hopeful he can grow in to it more on the other side.

3. Another direct wide forward. It would have to be someone special. If Schurrle became available for example, with the bonus of having PL experience. I am not desperate for this to happen, and I actually would not mind if we stuck with Son and Njie, let Pritchard get minutes and gave Chadli another year.

4. A better #2 keeper. Again, not a priority for me

5. A ball carrying, ball playing central midfield player. This is only if Bentaleb leaves, which I do not think will happen, hence #5. If he does though, this is an absolute priority though.

I would be happy with just a stopgap CB now


I can see Carroll going. Fazio. Yedlin. Cannot see much past 12m for the lot.

If another wide forward comes in maybe Chadli to go. Will prob get that total up to 25m or so.

Thanks for the insight HRH. I think son & Clinton need another season, barley seen Clinton and think son can become a very good player given the opportunity. Saying that, I'd also love to see someone with champs league and international experience come in as a leader.

Who is available that we could actually buy though?

Cool story bro.

As HRH says (once Janssen finally signs) we aren't desperate for anymore signings, although of course if the right player became available that was an upgrade on what we have then of course you always need to improve.

Media lovers and supporters of the Manchester clubs are drooling about the big names they are signing thinking they will be dominant again totally forgetting that we already have a great set of young players in place that all being well will improve with experience.

The general concencous on here was we were expecting a quiet-ish summer with about 3 players coming in and perhaps 4 or 5 heading out. We have 2 in already so one more signing would be just about right.

As we all know Poch always gives our youth a chance, We don't want to obstruct their paths into the first team.

We all have high hopes for our up and coming youngsters but only Poch and the staff know if they are ready.

These are the perceived weaknesses in our squad -

CB - Buy an experienced CB or give CCV a chance?

CM - Buy or give Bentaleb another chance?

AM - Buy or trust in Son, Clinton and Chadli with Onomah and Pritchard/ Edwards to complement?

CF - Buy a 3rd forward or give that place to Shayon Harrison?

It will be interesting to see what happens....
