Just shows you the crazy level of money that a team like ours could genuinely justify spending that level of money.

Not sure there were too many arguing that we didn't have the money to by an 89M player...

The argument is that this player isn't worth 89M... So not sure what the OP is on about tbh...

Personally I don't think you can justify it before he's kicked a ball. But each to their own.

Sick of these articles trying to justify the fee. Who gives a feck just enjoy the football and stop giving the opposition fans ammo

% of turnover means nothing without knowing P&L.

Granted, the level of spending seems very high for the Law purchase but I would guess that our profit margin is lower now than it was for the Rooney purchase, rendering this argument null and void.

Pogba will only be a bargain if he delivers the goods.

The link doesn't show he is a bargain at all. It is just another justification.

Red Russian came up with the same thing at least a month ago.

"% of turnover means nothing without knowing P&L."

And that means nothing either really unless you're a shareholder. Need to chill some of you and see what happens on the pitch.

Does anyone else think that maybe we were a little harsh on the Glazers after all?

United were always financially successful, granted, but they've taken the club's marketability to the next level. They've also backed all our managers in the transfer market, with apparently minimal interference in day to day affairs.

If we are needing a goal to get a win in stoppage time then Pogba is definitely the kind of player that can pop up with a moment of marketability to secure some much needed extra shirt sales in China to offset the lack of money received from only drawing instead of getting a win. That's why he is worth it.

You seem to forget they put the club in £700m worth of debt, and that affected our transfer budgets over the years. They're not bad owners but they ain't exactly great.

Ah that old chestnut..don't get the likes of me VC and others back on to this one again.

In a nutshell ...If you think you were....then yes, you were

I am truly grateful for the last 3 years where we have experienced the most successful period in our history. We have achieved the greatest sponsorship deals in the history of the game and sold more shirts in China than any other team in history. I am getting the China shirt sale stats tattood on my chest.

It's usually those who berate the glazers who demand the biggest transfers and personally commit the least to the club

Maybe in your dream world. Plenty of people who go to games despise the Glazers.

I know they saddled us with debt, but we also had one of the most successful periods in the club's history during that time. They never interfered with SAF running the club at that time either. And there's no indication that they didn't back fergie financially if he asked for it.

I always thought they were somewhere between average to good owners, but each year that goes by there they're looking better and better.

You can't them for the last 3 years. When Moyes took over he was SAFs pick, LVG was because there wasn't really anyone available at the time.

We had one of the most successful periods in our history because of who they inherited.

They took over the club when SAF, Ronaldo, Rooney and Rio were there and those players were far more responsible for the success than anything the Glazers did.

And as by magic, once those players left or got old the magic stopped.

Robb are you lecturing me on the whims of match going fans...

What the feck do you know about that

posted on 11/8/16

Nothing wrong with the Pogba deal if he succeeds at the club.

89m for United is like 30m for other clubs and no one bats an eyelid at 30m any more.

I'm guessing the green and gold protesters were non match going fans. They just happened to trip over and land in the stadium.

The green and gold protestors were an embarrassment, they soon disappeared when we won the title the season after as well.
