More questions for Monk

This is a first on here

Not one point do I disagree with all
Spot on

What really worries is that monk seems to have decided to toss two experienced players in the bin

Whilst everyone knows about my comments about Murphy not being worth the money and hasn't anything outstanding to his game

Not once have said he's a bad player. For me Murphy starts in this team

And we're missing cook massively

Forcing Dave and Murphy out for total inexperience in viera and Phillips is stupid.

Just bringing youth in for the sake of it to try to increase the value of them, to the detriment of the team.

Team just has no know how

I reckon 3rd defeat on tues and he's one foot out the door. Just not the right man for this job. Too much on the line and too much work needed. We should have an experienced man in charge who knows the league.

Other thing that really annoyed me, why did we defend corners and free kicks with 10 men in the box? The had only 7 on some occasions and for me that was the cause for the second goal.

Harrogate

We even did it on throw ins

These are basics. How can you break from a clearance when everyone is in the box? Did it for 90mins too.

I just can't get my head round Murphy's lack of involvement. He's not even made the bench today. He's a reliable player, like you say not brilliant, but decent. Makes it even stranger when Phillips is getting game time. Viera is so far out his depth, I feel sorry for the kid being thrown in like this.

Weakest midfield we've had in years.

Maybe he's been told to get Murphy off the wage bill, not heard anything but just a thought as it does seem rather strange

Maybe its because hes just clueless? Would ANY of the 27,000 Leeds fans there today play Mowatt on the left wing?

posted on 13/8/16

I said he would not last ten games, I may have been generous.

You can hope for the best but the reality is a novice manager not a premier league one, he is not as good as Evans, just looks better and an Italian likes gloss above substance.

Agreed with all of the points apart from the Steve Evans one. Did the players looked fazed by playing in front of a large and frustrated crowd?

On Murphy, the only thing that I think could be the issue is during pre season he was a step slow on everything and looked lost. Maybe Monk feels Murphy isn't up to
it yet? Not sure.

On Evans over Monk? Give me Monk every time.
Monk's had a pre season and three games. Evans had
quite a bit more. He was okay but not what we need.
Give Monk time to get his players and the squad going. Too early to be knee-jerking already.

I like Monk, and given time and support I believe he could do a decent job. He probably won't last long enough though. That aside, I believe we should have kept Evans to continue the re- build. With Monk, we're back to square one - again!

You're right there batty. We shouldn't forget that Evans took 4 games to get a win and his first game at home we were 2 nil down after 6 minutes.

Evans didn't sign nine players and have 7 weeks with the players

Nah, Monk is playing an 17/18 yr old lad in a position which requires experience.

The deep lying midfielder is a crucial position these days and it requires a high level of game understanding and perception BOTH which need to be honed over time with experience.

The signs point to Viera being that player, BUT NOT NOW. You simply cannot give such a role to a kid who is new to the pro game. The lad is making mistakes because he cannot process the game yet, let alone process how to start and break up play in a team of poor players.

Pre season he had Dave staying back and he got forward, he looked much better as he was more box to box. Bridcutt whilst not my main option is the perfect player for him to understudy, in that deeper role.

Those who were there today saw a lad trying to assert himself on the game but failing often, due to the above.

Monk has Murphy and Dave...he won't use them. Hernandez is a former winger who Monk is now using as a centre mid (not number 10) but a centre mid!! So we are seeing what? Him being dispossessed often, bullied and misplacing passes.

We have Mowatt on the left ...we all know what happens when he goes there and we have Wood up front even though he is clearly poor.

Answer me this, let's say Sako gets injured, would Botaka have been a million miles away from being a suitable replacement? He was sent out on loan as he was told to prove himself, yet he would have walked into this match day squad.

The club is devoid of direction, it's a shambles which relies on double speak and cheap signings to get us anywhere? Brum were there for a thrashing today, but we were typically poor. Imagine what the promotion team would have done to Brum today?

Monk was known for his bad football and we are seeing it here, I'm all for longevity but this guy I feel is gonna get us relegated.

Oh and what's this man up stuff? He is slating the players eve though he set them up to lose? I bashed Evans for being a gob sítè, this guy is doing the same but with a teaspoon of sugar.

Great comments there Mike

Totally agree

Am not a great lover of this defensive role, where they just sit in front of defense. I prefer more decourt player where they do protect but can drive forward ( abit like Austin too to be fair) but if your playing that way your can have vieri doing it at his age

I think Dave can do this role

LIW You think a Tuesday loss will be his first "bell toll"?

Trying to be positive

We will win

Mike and LIW agreeing?!?!

If Sean and PerthWhite come on here and agree also, then that's it!!

Dacourt was an immense passer and tackler and his movement was class. You just can't compare anything except Delph to to him, nevermind current squad.

This division requires players and mangers with proper know how. We're miles off.

Harrogate we are miles off.

Roofe
Ant
Hernandez
Viera (in some situations)
Sako

All have shown moments quality this season, the rest...

Green - standard stuff for a gk. Did well mostly.

Taylor - can't be bothered. Let him go so we can get someone else in early

Bamba and Bartley - mistakes came in as they tired.

Ayling - great start, but tired badly. Couldn't move for last 10.

Vieira - lots of energy, typical youthful mistakes. Needs to learn quickly. Can't complain.

Hernandez - not got pace for wing play, centre mid playmaker perfect for him. But needs to play more simply with the players round him, and not try to take others on in tight situations. Got very tired but they did realise they had to close him down eventually

Mowatt - played well, surprised at sub.

Sacko - excellent first half, but disappeared second half

Antonnson - excellent, all game.

Wood - looked much better with a partner. Always had awful touch, but caused problems and good links often.

Overall? Great first half, got very tired. Eddie Gray tactics when defending corners don't work. Optimistic we will not be relegated. Can't see us higher than lower mid table though without new right back, striker and midfielder

Monk has said books need to be balanced, expect to see some senior players mentioned exit.

We've relied on conveyor belt of youth players to sell but hard to sell any of current New crop unless they have any experience.

I'd rather loan them out than throw them in deep end with us.

I said when Monk joined Leeds that he was an idiot for working for Cellino, monk will leave Leeds as damaged goods.
