It was indeed Brian O'Neill, who last featured for Wolfsburg in 2000.

Baws. Can't Google as quick as others
Was it no an Aberdeen player?
Aww.. Seen its been guessed
Liepsig were supposed to be called Red Bull Liepsig, they are part of the Red Bull football family.
But the Bundesliga do nit allow teams to take brand names (strange given Bayer Leverkusen are one of the biggest teams). So they chose Rasenball, so that they could abbreviate to RB Liepsig. So technically it is Rasenball, but calling them Red Bull was the intention behind that name.
I suppose it's a bit like TNS sponsoring a team in Wales and then the team being renamed The New Saints.
Indeed Mick, but what's happened is that the British media in particular has been giving Red Bull a hell of a lot of free publicity by referring to them as Red Bull Liepzig when that's not their name.
It's a clever marketing gimmick that has been bought hook line and sinker by the press.
I can see more smaller teams allowing themselves to be sponsored by private firms in order to change their names.
It's the logical step from football shirts to stadiums to team names.
I'd be very uncomfortable with it if it happened to my team to be honest.
Even if they gave us shed loads of cash.
