Thanks for the concern, much appreciated, I'm fine.
The earthquake hit off the coast further down the north island near gisborne which is about 5 hours drive from auckland where I live, some people in auckland said they felt some minor tremors, I myself didn't feel a thing and in fact didn't even realise there has been an earthquake until a friend from back in england messaged to ask if I was ok.
The whole east coast of the North island received a tsunami warning but that never materialised.
All in there were around 100 aftershocks, some of which were not far off the strength of the initial quake, as far as human casualties are concerned, there have been none reported as thankfully the epicenter was out at sea and most of the East Coast nearby is empty countryside bar a few small towns so nothing even close to what happened in Christchurch a few years back.
Nice to see I haven't been forgotten even though I barely ever post anymore.

Good to know Harps. I was in Christchurch for New Year and went to see the impact and how the recovery is going and it was very humbling. Quite devastating for the locals of course but also one of the most interesting places I visited in NZ.
