not a fan of jose and his do not concede tactics.
Yes it's won him trophies but there are now a new breed of football called pressing which will cause him problems in the future.
I don't think there is an art to his football. I think most managers can adapt his approach but refuse to go down that road.
To lump the ball to a 7ft striker approach against City was shameful. Yes it was effective but he has world class players playing for him not a Sunday Pub team.
I wanted Sir Giggsy to take charge. High tempo, front foot, pro-active football.
That said, wasn't too disappointed with Mourinho. His reputation and image is seen as a negative though these days so any bad result is highlighted more than it should be.
I'd put our attack above Chelsea, their defence more above ours.
Gd for both is fairly similar though so far.
In our first 3 games of season we had same amount of shots that we had in 10 games under LVG. How's that negative?
City were better than us and Jose got it wrong first half. It happens.
Tonight was an attitude problem. Feyernoord don't have a single player we'd want in our best team or maybe even in our 2nd XI either. They'd be near bottom in the PL.
However they tried hard and wanted it and we didn't. Counts for a lot in football.
We haven't got the best defence at all. We don't have a disciplined DM playing thus far to protect that back 4.
valencia an honest pro but limited as a FB. Will run all day and is aggressive but positionally not great and cant cross when he gets forward.
Shaw still on his way back really and much more to come from him.
Probably need Smalling/Bailly combo to improve us.
If only Smalling was more comfortable on the ball though.
Some match sharpness from a poor pre-season aside, I think United are still lacking a bit of identity in the field, which for me actually extends back to roughly Fergie's last two seasons
------------------
absolutely correct.
in 2011/2012 saf I felt threw his playbook away in his attempt to stop city winning the league (including decisions along with the player's greed led to pogba leaving)
2012/2013 was the season we let the ball drop and imo with our pursuit of short term success abandoning future planning.
had we planned well we could have signed pep at that point instead it was one mistake after the other.
we came to another fork in the road this summer plan for the future or go for instant success and like back in 2012/2013 we opted for instant success

There is no guarantee though of instant success. I think we went for Jose purely because City had got Pep and Poch wasn't available who SAf in particular really rates
ddg is the best gk in the league
shaw is comfortably the best lb in the league
smalling/bailly/blind are as good as any other cb in the league through my rose tinted glasses
valencia is our weak link but we have strength in depth at rb to make up for that with darmian and TFM
Darmian isn't a strength and TMF just a promising kid who may be a better CB or DM
I sort of agree with you, it's spent a lot of money which I have no problem with because it's yours and not pumped in by some sugar daddy!
To me Jose was a better manager the first time when he joined Chelsea, he had a team full if pace and difficult to break down, but. They were good on the counter.
I've always thought as the stakes and his ego rose, he became more aware if what was at stake and became more defensive.
I do think he'll bring success, but he'll be off within 3 years having spent a fortune an UTD will be back to square one.
I would rather have Klopp,

I rather like darmian, unlike most. Just feel he is overly exposed by mata. He will get into most teams bar the top 6 imo

If Jose brings us success I don't think he will be off.
I don't see him building a young side though which is a real pity if that is the case. There are times to be cautious but not against a Dutch side.
I wouldn't worry to much about tonight's performance, but to be honest your next prem game is massive!
If ITD drop more points and cheksea mancity or liverpool win, the pressure would be on already.

Not worried about Chelsea but who will take points of City?
Everton to do well this season and threaten top 4

Spurs and Arsenal are level or arguably better than us.
At the moment we're a top 5 team who've spent a whole load of money (again) and have a manager who's ego has been severely damaged, much to his own doing in his previous job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They aren't
In a way I'd consider tonight similar to a pre season game. It was all about getting players minutes and the result wasn't overly important. Of course we want to win every game but our season will not be judged on the Europa league that's for sure.
Imo it was probably more beneficial to give these players game time tonight and lose rather than play the same players we have been playing and winning.
The worry is why we still need to get so many players playing minutes. Fitness and stamina should be worked on in training.

Agreed and Jose has missed opportunities to give a few of these more minutes. Its a bit of a poor excuse really
