How would he know Lubo?

Sounds like the guys backing the Italian bid to me but you never know - someone could come in late and blow them out of the water.

The ones I know about are mega rich but two unrelated people have told me they've walked away due to MC refusing to do a deal. I guess things can change and China has more billionaires than Leeds have midfielders 😉

Wha u Wan sounds good to me.

How much do you reckon LUFC is worth considering you don't own anything and have nothin' to sell other than a cup of Bovril ? £1m, maybe £2m ?

Does it matter? We're still a much much much bigger T club than you and always will be.

Embarrassing when fans from yoyo clubs like West Brom give Leeds stick, despite our plight we still have more tv coverage, more media attention and a bigger fan base. Big team in a little league or little team in a big league

Do Leeds fans go onto the Baggies board? No.
Do Baggies fans go onto our board? Yes.

Says it all, really.

My source is the Harrogate man named in the papers as bringing together a bid for the club. I spoke to him face-to-face last night about this. This is what he states on his website

"Who’s next…sleeping giant?

There has been speculation in the media of Chinese interest in both Liverpool and Hull, which makes complete sense given the above. However, I believe the biggest prize in the English football league for the Chinese has got to be Leeds United.

Legacy brand – yes

Leeds United is the third biggest city single football club and it’s a legacy brand. Leeds City formed in 1904 and Leeds United formed 1919, making it 97 years old.

Financial case – yes

By the year 2001, the club was 5th in the Deloitte Football Money League, with revenue ahead of clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Chelsea.

In the past 16 years, a succession of owners has mismanaged and underinvested in the club. There are no exact figures on this, but one source put Leeds at the bottom of net investment since 2004/5, with a staggering £97m outflow from the club, although Leeds went into administration so there may be slight “apples and pears” comparisons with other clubs.

Based on approximate steady state revenue of £30m, Leeds will be worth c.£45-60m (applying a Championship club revenue multiple of 1.5 or up to two times revenue multiple for a Premier League potential). Yet again, no net investment from the club during the recent transfer window and the sale of a prize young talent Lewis Cook. Further capital to bring in the best would be needed to allow Leeds to go to toe to toe with the likes of Wolves and Aston Villa – in total, potentially, worth up to £100m.

The potential of this sleeping giant is massive. To demonstrate this, Leeds’s old rivals, Liverpool, worth less than Leeds in 2001, is according to Forbes now worth $1.56n which is nearly a staggering 20 times the Leeds valuation!

Property development

There is a definite property upside play to investing in Leeds. In 2015, house prices increases in Leeds were (4.9%) but completely lagged behind London (13.1%) and the average property price in London was £463,872, compared to Leeds – £129,280. In the medium to long term, when HS2 is built, property prices will follow.

Right investment partner

I expect, in 2017, a new crop of Chinese owners will come in for clubs. Some will be the saving angels, a few won’t be and some of the deals won’t work out.

I need to disclose my interest, I’m a passionate Leeds United fan. I remain committed to finding the right Chinese investing partner(s) for the club."

Clueless!

Well played Long West Brom aren't a bad club tbh, I used to see a lot of wba flags in Tenerife and Spain etc, but them compared to us in terms of potential and history. They wouldn't exactly make light work of us in a competitive fixture neither

Totally agree Jonny, nobody's gonna pay £1m for a cup of Bovril never mind £2m!!!

Long - I've asked source today and he's not heard anything. However he did think they had lost interest when MC wouldn't sell 100%.

Petter on Twitter says that deal with Italian lot is held up due to Ross bung allegations. Possible big fine on the way which will need sorting first.

Maybe some others are still in with a chance. Hope so because I'd like some local interest involved and Tappin was/is working with some good people who have Leeds' best interests at heart.

This is a long slow process. Due diligence will take longer. The idea that the Chinese are no longer interested? Bunkum.

But the big fish Steve is trying to get is someone most of us have at least heard about and they are meeting in the next week. And he has history in Leeds. Whether he can be tempted to go for it, rather than consider and turn down? Different question

But I won't have any more updates as this stuff is all commercial, and Steve is going back to China. So fingers crossed. Maybe we will all have a nice xmas pressy

So I guess Steve doesn't think the Italian/Chinese deal will go through?

Interesting as there a a few who seem to be ITK who believe it's almost there.

I suppose the quietness of MC is telling us something. You would think he would be shouting from the rooftops how he's got rid of GFH and is going to buy the ground back and get us in the top six.

The silence is very interesting!

He's only quiet cos he's probably signed a non disclosure agreement.....otherwise he would never keep his trap shut....

Former Leeds United owner GFH Financial Group has revealed that the sale of its remaining 18 per cent stake gave the Championship club an enterprise value of about £50m.

Last week, the Bahrain investment bank confirmed that its Dubai-based subsidiary GFH Capital had sold its interest in Leeds United.

The bank has now added further details at the request of the Dubai Financial Market.

GFH said that it had sold 3.5 million shares in Leeds United "and the club's total enterprise value has reached approximately £50m based on this sale".

GFH added that it was unable to disclose any more information due to confidentiality clauses.

At the start of September, Leeds United said that Eleonora Sport had snapped up all of the shares previously held by GFH Capital.

Prior to the deal, a GFH investment vehicle, UK Investments Company, still owned 15.79 per cent of Leeds United. The firm also had a 25 per cent stake in Leeds City Holdings, which owns 2.6 per cent of the club.

GFH Capital owned Leeds United from December 2012 until 2014 when Cellino acquired a controlling stake.

Half of man city would be a dream right now. Given the city and its size / potential, it is literally a potential gold mine.
