Maple-flavored cotton candy at the cabane à sucre (sugar shack), Pakenham, Canada
There are multiple claims for the origin of cotton candy, with some sources tracing it to a form of spun sugar found in Europe in the 19th century. At that time, spun sugar was an expensive, labor-intensive endeavor and was not generally available to the average person.[6] Others suggest versions of spun sugar originated in Italy as early as the 15th century.[7]

Machine-spun cotton candy was invented in 1897 by the dentist William Morrison and confectioner John C. Wharton and first introduced to a wide audience at the 1904 World's Fair as "Fairy Floss"[8] with great success, selling 68,655 boxes at 25¢ per box (equivalent to $7 per box today). Joseph Lascaux, a dentist from New Orleans, Louisiana, invented a similar cotton candy machine in 1921. In fact, the Lascaux patent named the sweet confection “cotton candy” and the "fairy floss" name faded away, although it retains this name in Australia.[9][10] In the 1970s an automatic cotton candy machine was created which made the product and packaged it. This made it easier to produce and available to sell at carnivals, fairs, and stores in the 1970s and on.

Tootsie Roll of Canada Ltd., the world's largest cotton-candy manufacturer, makes a bagged, fruit-flavored version called Fluffy Stuff.[11]

Did I suggest the above was happening, or did you not read the comment properly?

That's the thing about fascism, it attracts those lacking in the intellectual stakes.

These days the anti-fascists are more fascist than the fascists - look at Jeremy Corbyn for example

I was asking LQ a question. If I wanted your tabloid opinion I'll ask.

Off you pop now, sure you've got an EDL forum to get back to.

What makes you think I'm a 'leftie'? I've not suggested anything to say I am. You and your far right leanings on the other hand.

Go on then have a crack at answering the question I asked LQ. It's suggested we 'get on with it' following the vote. Get on with what exactly?

We are truly living through a startling age of seismic sociopolitical, geopolitical, geoeconomic & macroeconomic shifts.

Was it ever thus??

Probably....

A ripple became a swell became wave became tidal wave became a tsunami....

The perfect storm.

Are we all now becoming Canutes????
