And how many smash and grabs did we have at Anfield? Rooney scoring in 2005 from our only chance. O'Shea scoring from a set piece. Tevez scoring from a lucky deflection going towards him. Those were our only chances in those games and we won.
---------------------------
But you were a different animal then, with a different manager. United were able to play poorly and win against any side. Can you honestly say the same now?

We're still developing. We haven't been great this season and have only shown glimpses of real quality. In contrast, Liverpool have really hit the ground running and look impressive. We could have been more bold, but if we lost today it would have been another psychological blow and would have left us another point off the pace.

Ferguson might not have played the same way, but there were plenty of times towards the end of his reign when I looked quite enviously at Chelsea's ability to close a game, to nullify the best teams. Clearly we would all have preferred to play amazing, attacking football and win 3-0, but these kinds of tactical games will set us in good stead for future big clashes.

This thread is the epitome of two bald men fighting over a comb

Happy with the draw, was hoping it would be a lot more bad tempered though

Fluck me, I wouldnt want to see what into.
Your manager is a busted flush, and hell simply drag your club down with him.
Chelsea had the right idea, just wonder how long it will take United to cotton on to it.
Liverpool were poor tonight, yet United had no ambition whatsoever, with one of the most expensively assembled squads in world football, thats the best Mourinho could come up with.
God help you.

Mourinho has had two months in the job. If it's the same this time next year then I'd be worried.

Plus I think that if we look at a bigger picture, things are starting to clear up a bit for us and are starting to fall into place at last. Getting rid of Rooney from the starting XI, Herrera as a holding midfielder, I hope we stay with Blind at LB, Smalling & Bailly at CB, if we can sort out Pogba and Zlatan's recent form then we'll be sound I guess. Hoping for Mkhitaryan's positive influence in some time too.

Fall into place ?
Your best performance football wise, was against Stoke at home, who had conceded 15 goals in their previous 5 games, and you only managed a draw.
Liverpool were poor tonight, yet Mourinho had no ambition whatsoever to change tac, and try and get the 3 points.
As someone said on twitter, if Mourinho had directed Die Hard, you would have had 90 minutes of Bruce Willis hiding in a cupboard, only to emerge at the end, expecting applause.
I doubt hell see out the end of the season if Im honest.

I'd say frustrated with results which have put us significantly on the back foot rather than concerned at the form performance wise. The last 5 games could easily have been 10-15 points had a couple more things gone our way.

I'd add that we've barely seen Martial and Mkhitaryan yet this season who I think could significantly improve our attacking play once we settle on a best 11.

It's quite funny seeing so many Liverpool fans trying to convince us (and themselves) that Mourinho will be a failure at United, just because we got a deserved draw at Anfield and made Liverpool look poor for much of the game.

It was a deserved draw without doubt. Liverpool fan reactions are funny. Jose will still probably be a failure though.

We are all failures in the end.
