Massively overrated by some people on here. For the money we spent would have expected a lot more from him. Obviously Wenger thinks he's not good enough otherwise he would have played against the Cuuunts on Saturday.

Xhaka = extreme waste of money which if added to the Perez transfer we could have bought a top 50m - 60m striker.

He might turn out good, but he's certainly not a £30-35m player. Works hard, but slow and can be really clumsy in the tackle. His passing range shows promise, but still not as good as was made out. Needs more time.

Wenger offered £30m and Giroud for Icardi. Inter wanted £50m apparently.

Sometimes you think WTF is Wenger doing? What was the point of buying Xhaka for that amount of money when we already had Elneny and Coq?

With Icardi we would have won the league.

Still better than that pointless twonk ramsey

Dont agree. Wenger moves Ramsey around and doesnt play him in his best position much. Ramsey by his own admission was playing with the handbrake on for a while because of the psychological impact of the Shawcross assault. He now thinks hes got over it.

I think its time he was given another run in the middle of a few games to try to stake a claim that he could be back to his best. Being played on the left wing doesnt help him. When he moved central on Saturday he and Arsenal looked better.

Xhaka is a fantastic player but will need (as AW alluded to previously) time to adapt his game to the PL.

Referring to him as a “waste of money” after seven PL games is a bit daft.

In regard to Icardi, he had no intention of joining Arsenal. Transfer rumours were generated (by his wife and agent) to get a better deal from Inter.

Based on? Most people had never heard of him before we were linked with him and he's done nothing at Arsenal yet to label him fantastic

What he probably means is he has a couple of fantastic goals.

Xhaka at least still looks like make those key passes.

Elneny on the other hand is truely a nothing players. Keeps it tidy but doesn't tackle and gets overrun against better opposition

Watching him play.

His passing ability, for one. Both long and short range . Rather than play the ball back or sideways, he predominately passes forward.

Suggest showing a degree of patience, as AW gradually integrates him into the side.

Elneny is exactly the same as Denilson was. Doesn't make mistakes but doesn't really do much at all except for recycle posession. He's ok as a squad player but if he was starting every week we'd start to hate him like Denilson

Even with all our midfielders we still rely heavy on Cazorla who is what 32 now?

I get the feeling some people will blame Wenger for everything thats wrong including their marriages. You may want him out but you dont have to be a fool at it.

I dont see how Xhaka cant be worth 30-35 million considering what has been spent on similar or inferior midfielders recently.

Its funny how people have moaned about us buying short players we finally have a physical but also technical midfielder who is the opposite of Coq who many fans moan about and they still moan about the price.

He hasnt been great defensively, I was one of the first to call it and say he is a touch to slow for the league but his vision and accuracy of his passing is a delight and he will get better.

Lots of games hence why we need a big squad hence why Wenger bought him

I like him. Think he could be one of the best MF's in the league once he fully settles in.

Some of his performances were top draw in the Euros, thats a big enough stage to show how good you are. Just needs time to adjust, Wenger should start him more IMO.

Elneny is turning out to be dissapointing. Not a tackler but when he was first playing he was moving the ball forward, now its either sideways or backwards, that must be due to the fact that lately nobody from midfield is driving the ball from defense to attack. Even worse this weekend with Bellerine out and Monreal pinned back.

Doubt it.

No one has really mentioned his defensive ability. As a CM he has to do work there to help the team defend. I touched on it talking about his lack of pace and need to improve positioning, but everyone else has focused on his passing.

The position he plays in should be a box-to-box player. Assuming Coq is the DM, the other player alongside him in CM should add something.

Santi controls midfield and starts attacks.
Ramsey will run box to box all day helping out attack and defence.
Elneny is probably the best defensively of the 4 being considered.
Xhaka has a good pass and shot and is expected to improve.

and we also have Wilshere to come back who is getting good reviews
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/11/20/jack-wilshere-is-thriving-with-his-breath-of-fresh-air/

Do you see Xhaka as the best of those now?

Do you see him really improving that much to become the best?

Why is it a prerequisite for a player’s popularity to be associated with ability?
