I think you could well be right Rev
It's gone way past the point where we can say we are just unlucky
Another legacy of Fawaz miss management I am afraid 😳
PM has been double training them and has mentioned concerns over level of fitness of some of the players early on his tenure.
Someone was saying they had spoken to Jamie Ward who was apparently suggesting the training pitches are too hard and although some have been pushing for them to be relayed it's fell on deaf ears.
I don't know how true that is.
I personally suspect that it's a few factors and the way Forest are, doesn't help. For example we do pick up players at this level who have had problems with injury and maybe factors around the medical staff, pitches, boots etc don't help.
Although we've always had injuries, it's felt particularly bad for the last three years. At first you talk of being unfortunate, but after this long it does make you wonder.
Old irrational Hannah is talking of players taking it turns to effectively rule themselves out, a sort of strike against things they are not happy with
I think at the level we are at and with budget constraints you are always more likely to take a little more risk with players you sign. I suspect in some cases we don't help ourselves or try and at least reduce that risk a bit.
Take Traore as one of strangest ones, he had struggled with injuries for 2 seasons + and we give him a three year deal. Low and behold, he keeps struggling with fitness and injury.
It would be interesting to do a comparison with the U18 squad as I think I am right in saying that they play all their home matches at the ND academy? That would prove or disprove the training ground pitch question to a degree.
I also believe they are struggling fitness wise when you consider the amount of late goals conceded and the way they have retreated towards their own goal in the latter stage of matches (although confidence in each other's abilities will also be a factor).
Traore looks like one of the starkest signings in many seasons. QPR fans were genuinely incredulous when they heard about the deal Forest had given him.
And strangest signings...
You are right, though, Rat. Beggars can't be choosers in Div 2. Always going to have to take certain risks that clubs in the Prem don't need to over players with a bit of an injury history. A lot of finger crossing done by club doctors after medical with prospective new signings I would suggest. Traore is at the extreme end of this scale, though.
Fryatt is another good example as he had injuries problems at Walsall, Fester and Hull that were all well documented. Believe he had been out for the entire season at Hull before Forest signed him? In fairness, it seemed a good deal when he played under Psycho and was looking very effective upfront with Assombalonga.
You must know your injury situation is bad when you only get mentioned by the manager in the press conference once every three months or so!
Although concerned about Jamie Ward injury record there was more sense in his longer deal as it gave him the security of a three year deal as a way to offset the embargo wage restrictions

Shows how poorly managed Forest have been over recent years that they've had to take such risks.
Dorus De Vries, Stephen Henderson, Daniel Pinillos, Michael Mancienne, Matt Mills, Armand Traore, Danny Fox, Jack Hobbs, Damien Perquis, Thomas Lam, Chris Cohen, Muzzy Carayol, David Vaughan, Matty Cash, Matty Fryatt, Britt Assombalonga and Niklas Bendtner.
Of those listed above how many had a history of injury so bad they could be classed as a risky signing?
Hobbs
Fryatt
Traore
Vaughan
There has to be more to it than we are just forced into signing sick notes. Fitness is so important, but also injury recovery could be significant. Take Cohen for example, how confident can we be that he has been managed properly in all the recovery periods he has had, and what impact mis-management has had on him
It's not the main factor definitely
You would hope they have handled Cohen as well as they possibly could. I just think he has had so long out it will take a couple of seasons to iron out all of the niggles if he can. Other than the facilities, the players are the main investment that the club makes so you would hope they would be giving them access to the best they can afford in terms of rehabilitation.
I still can't believe that Fryatt is STILL out, we're STILL employing him and there's no sign of him ever returning. I guess a footballer's wage is much better than being on benefits...
If they are off sick they should get £88.45 per week SSP like everyone else.
