I was dissapointed in Walters to be fair, he was being quite easily outboxed by Loma and after round 7 Loma stepped it up another gear again and without ever really being hurt Walters knew he was in against someone levels above him and it took any belief he had left. Walters himself quit, his corner wanted him to continue...
The Ward/Kov stuff has been done to death tho and there is no point debating it anymore.
Agree with both sentiments.
Walters was just completely outclassed and couldn't land a glove on Loma. He knew the writing was on the wall and would've been KO'd or beat up over the final few rounds so chucked it. The advantage of that is no concussion/beating so he can come back quicker and fresher.
Said all I have to say on the other fight.
In Walters case though he kind of has himself to blame a bit. He was waiting for the Loma fight for a while and it was like 12 months or something before he had a fight because of it. Surely he would have been better to take an opponent at the same weight in the interim.
