Doom, Deus Ex & Just Cause 3 can be picked up pretty cheap now both good single player games. If you like RPG's then Fallout 4 was pretty good, the new Final Fantasy seems ok by all accounts.
fallout 4 can get cheap now as well . play once one normal than again with mods
Feck fallout 4. If you like rpgs then get Divinity: Original Sin and Witcher 3

I was basing the games on purely the two he played and that he said he liked action/adventure themed games. Divinity (especially) and Witcher 3 are more all out RPG's as opposed to Fallout being a more action based game rather than an all out RPG.
Fair enough. Think Witcher 3 is very action orientated though.
Yeah I can see what you mean, a little more "clunky" in the action aspect tho...however im sure regardless he would love Witcher, was awesome loads to do and defo one of the best value for money games out there without doubt.
On the Divinity front, I havent played it but heard good things about it.... Id also add that I loved Diablo 3 on the console (ideally for playing with a few of your mates) "platinuming" that game was fun but again should be able to pick that game up for buttons now.
Divinity is definitely more of a pure rpg but the battle system is some of the most satisfying and fun gameplay there is.
Witcher 3 is shlt, character doesn't even move properly
You only own a Nintendo Gameboy colour, how would you know?

...classic !
For the size of development team and what they accomplished and pot out there Witcher 3 absolutely puts every other team to shame...The production quality and size of that game with the numbers of developers in comparison to its rivals is astounding....take note Bethseda
I'm not a fan of rpg's. I prefer freedom, not scripts. I bought elder scrolls oblivion on 360 because it was rated so highly but was disappointed. Please recommend me a non RPG game, that isn't a simple minded shoot em up.

Virtua Fighter
Sounds like Farcry may be what your after or dying light
Pure action twitch based shooter than Doom
Great fun sand boxes: gta v or Just Cause 3
Then prob the game inbetween is Dishonoured 2
More indie have a look at superhot but thats just a few hours
More thinky pick up the bioshock collection
Managed to forget MGS V. Great shoot game, terrible mgs game

It's a shame you're on Xbone as it sounds like the Uncharted series would be right up your street.

Not sure you worded that correctly RPG's tend to have a lot more freedom and unscripted than the more linear shooters .... I loved Oblivion really loved it, however I remember watching someone playing Morrowind when it was out and thinking it was pointless and boring ..... then i got it myself and played it from scratch .... turns out it was possibly the best game Bethseda made !!

Far more lore in it compared to the rest, game had far more detail and less hand holding, you wanted to find something out you HAD to go find it out yourself....sadly this just doesnt exist in games nowadays the try to cater for the whole market and to players with no patience or common sense to figure stuff out... I remember years ago reading that Morrowind had the equivalent of about 9 full length novels of lore and info to be read in the game. Was such an open and free game and easily the least linear out of all the Elder Scroll games.
