Actually 1-1

Keep the ball on the ground and you have to think a comfortable liverpool win.... get into an aerial battle and the stoke giants will be coming into their own.

Basically if liverpool have the majority of possession, they should win reasonably comfortably.

So on this thread your predicting a draw, yet on your (betting prediction thread) you predict a Stoke win?

"I am quite tempted to put Stoke to beat Liverpool on one of my accies."

How does that translate into PREDICTING Stoke will win?

So far this season, Bubbles has an astonishing record with the accuracy of his/her predictions.

Score draw.

I think people are underestimating Stoke tbh. Firstly they are a lot more than a long ball side. They have decent wingers and move the ball forward with pace. The have power and pace up front and Palacios is a decent signing.

AT the back they have a good keeper and solid centre backs who are athletic and good in the air.

If we score first then I think we can go onto win it but tbh I think it will be a very difficult game and a point would do me fine.

I called Liverpool's result spot on last round of PL fixtures actually.

In fact so far I have got 13/20 PL results right including 3 spot on results

I completely agree with this. I think that if we go there and play the football we have been playing recently we can expose Stoke and win by a few. Yes we will have a rough ride with set pieces but I think the key to this is not to try and match Stoke in the air but to get the ball down and play.

So let me get this right, you actually think we'll draw but your willing to bed on us to lose!

Stop sitting on the fence plums!

If you look at Stoke's home record, they very rarely lose by more than one goal.

Last season against the top teams:

Spurs L 1-2
Man Utd L 1-2
Man C D 1-1
Chelsea D 1-1
Arsenal W 3-1

(I don't include the win over Liverpool as it was under Hodgson, so was basically a gimme for Stoke)

0-0 with Chelsea this season.

If we win it will be narrowly, 1-0, 2-1 something like that. Any Liverpool fan expecting a comfortable win is setting themselves up for disappointment.

I hate Stoke away and I cant see many teams walking out of The Victoria Ground with three points. Play a high line, close down their centre halfs and dont concede silly free kicks in the final third.
Id be more than happy with a point

Thats why i wouldn't start Carra if Carrols playing because he'll just keep hoofing the ball at him and that would play right into Stokes hands. If we could play the ball out from the back we'd have more control because we're a much better footballing team.

We are a lot better equipped for set pieces as well now so I'd expect us to deal with free-kicks (that Lucas will inevitably give away) better because we have Enrique and Carrol who we didnt have last season and they are 2 good headerers of the ball..

Agreed let Stoke play their game and we will play ours. I would go for Suarez and Bellamy and Downing out wide.

----------------Reina----
Johnson-----Carra-----Agger-----Enrique

Bellamy----Hendo--Lucas--Adam--Downing
--------------Suarez

personally I don't like to see a manager tinkering too much with a back four unless there have been players in these positions who have underperformed.

They have looked reasonably solid so far this season ,carra's slip against Bolton apart, but the game was won and it was an uncharacteristic lapse in concentration. My feeling is that we made need his organisational influence in this game. Also, Carragher will know crouch's game inside out which may prove helpful.

Coates needs to be bedded in and I just don't see an away game at Stoke being the ideal game to blood him in.

Aggers - My only concern with that team would be that its a a fairly small team and against the Stoke giants they would win most pretty much everything in the air.

Going forward though they wouldn't be able to handle the pace and movement of Suarez, Bellamy and Downing

It has draw written all over it guys...Stoke will suck the life out of the game. Prepare for the worse, especially with Jones and Crouch now there.

We dont ever play a high-line away from home. I can see similar tactics that we used at the Emirates. Defend our own half and hit on the counter. Or keep the ball and frustrate until we win a free kick.

If we get the first goal, then only can i see a win for us as Stoke will then have to go for something

I would like us to pack the middle of the park in this game using a 4-2-3-1.

I we have the ball and stop their wide players getting the ball preventing crosses we can win. If we have the ball they will be less able to exploit set pieces and give away fre kicks.

Keeping the ball will be crucial in this game.

When Kenny was in charge the first time he used to play 3-5-2 against the likes of Wimbledon and Milwall.

Kenny may well play Carroll instead of Bellamy to help out at corners and maybe even Coates, but I think that might be a mistake to play Stoke at their own game. I hope we push up the pitch and then retain possession

Excellent point knotty.

He used it last season too, when we had injuries. This fromation would actually make a lot of sense. 3 CB's to deal with their height plus the opportunity to play Suarez and Carroll, with big Andy able to drop back to help with set pieces.

I wouldn't take a point right now or at any other time. Thats because my team will get three points tomorrow afternoon. End of. JimmyTheRed

Im not going to predict a score....reason is because i am pathetic at it.

However the gambler in me says we going to be 0-1 up at half time. Then either Skrtle or Carra is going to be red carded and then we going to draw 1-1 after Etherington scores the equaliser in the 84th minute.
