He's waited until most of the top guys in the division have retired or moved up though - Ward, Froch (cant, but still pretty good boxer) etc. There were a few guys in that division that would easily beat DeGale 2 years ago.

Still not convinced he can go the distance and get something in the championship rounds due to getting gassed out. Still not convinced he has the chin either. Good boxing skills but I just don't think he enough to be the undisputed best in the division. Jack is underrated and I reckon this one could go against DeGale.

Degale is best in division and only fighter around 160 I think beats GGG!

Jack is ridiculously overrated imo degale should Ko him

Can't see Badou causing Degale any problem whatsoever, Degale is a level above. Easy points decision or late knock out

Always liked deGale and thought he won the Groves fight, although losing it was probably a blessing in disguise as it forced him to reevaluate his career.

Looks in phenomenal share in those photos and mentally seems at ease from the past few interviews he's given.

Hoping he'll do the business, comfortable UD.

Interesting how 'marmite' DeGale is.

My personal opinion is changing somewhat. I always had DeGale down as a really talented boxer, moves well, sharp shots rather than concussive but with the intelligence to pick them well.

However, I've always thought he would underachieve somewhat because they'd always be people willing to work harder than him, dedicate themselves in a way DeGale didn't seem to believe he had to because of his ability.

It's great to see him lean and hopefully focused. If that shows itself in the ring and into the championship rounds then he has a really good shot of beating Jack IMO. Another average performance which tails off in the second half as he fades however and he'll lose.

I like Degale after initially not really warming to him. He's proved himself and changed people's mind about him. He's had to show tough mental resolve after being close to retiring due to not earning enough money but he's turned it around and credit where credit is due

I wonder though what it would have been like if he stayed with Eddie Hearn. Could have earnt more and become a bigger domestic star? Would he have won the ibf belt over here? Would he have improved as a boxer if he didn't face A Dirrell, Bute away from home? I'm pretty sure he's happy with what he's done though.

Lee Selby is faced with the same situation as Degale. Ibf champion but in the UK he's slowly fading into obscurity.

Just watched it. Good interview. Happy for him and where he's got to now. I'd put him as Britain's number 1 fighter right now but he has nowhere near the profile he should have due to signing with Big Al

Also fair play he's stuck with Jim Mcdonnell. I remember there were plenty of calls to get rid of him after the Groves defeat.

If he beats Jack, he is the best fighter in the country. He might not have the exposure of an Anthony Joshua but he is earning decent money in america and his credentials and results have made him a respected champion in the sport.

Fairly big calls given Frampton unified belts at super bantam and then moved up to take a belt at feather.

I'd argue that's more than DeGale has achieved. Unbeaten and a two weight world champion. Gotta respect that!

Would say frampton is number 1 in the country although he dodged rigo! But he has moved up a division and won a belt something degale hasn't!

I'm hoping for degale GGG as I think degale ma the only won who beats him around that weight

Would it be fair to say it's easier for fighters in the lighter weight divisions to move between weights than it is ha user guys?

I'm a smaller guy (5' 6) and in the past few years I've gone anywhere between 9 and half stone (granted it was after a month long bout of flu ) to my current weight of 12 and half stone (got my winter coat on ). When I'm fit and healthy I'm usually 11-11 and a half.

Point I'm making is that I could easily make anything from lightweight to super-welter comfortably, although granted I'd be fighting bigger guys than me at the higher end of the spectrum.

Surely it's harder for bigger guys to either put muscle on or drain weight off?
