As long as we sell Iorfa, this will be the best January transfer window in living memory

I don't mind him giving the kids a chance, but we need quality not quantity.

That would make a good "Mock the Week" style competition: "What you wouldn't expect Lambert to say"!

Keep the money for the summer after seeing MGW today, we have some exceptional kids coming through. How good would it be to have the majority of our first team come through the academy.

Why have a go at Wolfgang if you don't like what he says just don't come here.

Wolfgang I think they've seen what they have in the academy and are prepared to give them a chance, after all that's what it's there for.

after a 30 minute cameo (and a not much longer one from ronan the other day) I do think it's a bit early to start talking about our young players as regulars who are going to do away with the need for signings. it is only a couple of seasons since iorfa was tearing it up and being declared the best young player we'd had in years - now the majority of fans I speak with agree with his being dropped from the team and sold if we can raise a decent price for him.

always nice to see youth players step up to become regulars, but it happens very, very infrequently. I doubt we have more than one or two players who will make the leap and even if they do, that will be the leap into a championship side...whereas we want to be a premier league team.

if we are to be successful under PL it will be through signing the right players and getting the tactics spot on, as under FFP we will find it hard to compete with the mega-rich sides relegated from the prem each season. one or two of our youth players breaking into the first team will be an added bonus, not a viable plan for promotion.

it has been said numerous times - the problem with buying Rhodes etc., is not a lack of money, it is breaking the FFP rules. IF we could sell a bundle of players this window we could but new ones without being in breach of the rules. but we probably don't have enough players of the right quality to do that.

of course, you can choose not to accept the explanation from the club, manager, and owners. but why create a more fanciful scenario when there's a perfectly reasonable one already given?

posted on 8/1/17

There are ways and means around FFP, how many companies do Fosun own or have fingers in? A sponsorship deal is one way around it.

posted on 8/1/17

If there is a way to get round the ffp I am sure the club will be aware of it. But the rules have been strengthened this season and the penalties for breaking those rules are much harsher
