Jordon was looking to impress when he was at Derby, but he doesn't need to, so much, now he's in the big time.
He'll be ok when Steve puts an arm around him

Keogh, Christie, Russell have all done OK for us.

In the modern game Premiership teams hoover up anyone in the lower leagues who shows a bit of promise. They buy them before they are anywhere near first-team level and then loan them out again to lower league clubs. Everton spent 11 million the other day on one such player from Charlton. Should Derby have bid for him? There was Callum O'Dowda, the Oxford winger we nearly bought last year who wasn't even a regular in their first team. They wanted over a million and he wanted at least 10K a week. He was a prospect but no more than that. He went to Bristol City and hasn't done much for them.

It's not like it used to be when managers got a phone call from a mate in Tranmere to alert them to a promising centre-half and you could drive up and clinch the deal. Kids get scouted when they are barely out of nappies and signed up for the big clubs. For every Hogan who turns out to be a good player there are dozens who are similar but who don't make the grade. When players are young even expert scouts can't tell how far they will go in the game. Most of us think Hughes is pretty good and all of the top clubs have watched him many times but none have made a bid - even they still aren't sure.

Vidal, why is Hughes getting booked EVERY game? Surely he can be committed without getting booked, as that tells me he is not as silky-smooth as he is supposed to be?

Is this a done deal, it's on the dirties board that hes signed for 2 million

Every deal is a gamble. There were plenty of Derby fans wanting us to splash £12m on Ross McCormack. Thank the Lord we never bought that waste of money. Ibe did well for us but can he produce again? At Championship level he may do...don't forget he is playing in the Prem with a side more often than not bossing the game.

I am flattered that you would think I would know the answer Scouse. I believe Ang should now field these sorts of imponderables. As you ask, though, these are my thoughts on the matter:

I reckon he considers his relative lack of physicality to be a weakness and is over-compensating. Midfielders do pick up a lot of bookings although it is usually the defensive ones like Johnson, Thorne, Eustace who "take one for the team".

He's a smart feller so hopefully he will cogitate on it and try to limit his fouls in future. There is a bit of an art to fouling where you make it look not so bad as all that and the ref doesn't instinctively reach for his pocket. By contrast Hughes' fouls always look worse than they are. He'll learn - Johnson is a good example of someone who does a lot of dark arts stuff but who doesn't pick up a vast amount of yellows and is very rarely sent off.

What was the question ?

The fact that he's practically wearing a flashing beacon with that barnet makes him more readily memorable to refs to; there's not many albino-looking motherbitches kicking folks over all owa the midfield, plus he tends to react due to the kickings he receives every game.

He's not the messiah though, not any more than he is a naughty boy, and for those who cite stats as the be-all-and-end-all then he doesn't have enough goals, assists, interceptions, tackles to his name whilst his fouls commiteed tally makes Joesph Barton look like a modern-day Lineker. All that said we miss him like crazy when he's unavailable so that should caution us somehwat when assessing the potential of signings via the proscribed assessments the likes of Peeder and Owd Spurt subscribe to.

What they said, Scouse

Considering the impact a useless lump like Kuqi made I would say Nugent could be a key signing. That weasel word "could", much beloved by the tabloid press.

Still rather have him playing for us than against us. He more or less temporarily destroyed our season after he came on in the last 10 minutes for Boro. As someone else said, better than Rhodes, but then probably Conor Sammon is.

It's a tiny little window thing on the phone so I generally rely on getting it right first time rather than typing it into Word, spell-checking, copying and pasting etc. but this time it did not go well... it was Iwas-esque in its presentation.

Why are we not linked with a right back or left back? These positions need resolving before we play Dirties.

I advise making many more mistakes of that type 666 - it might distract readers from the actual content.

Scousers that I have known have been salt of the earth. Kelvin McKenzie knows! Ask him what he thinks whether it be true or not.

A newspaper editor who invents stuff like that deserves severe ostracisation and punishment.

Not the first reference to Sammon in the last few days. Hearts have failed to make the most of him, Dundee Utd interested in taking him on loan but we can resign.

What an option for the second half of the season......

Gay footballers; does anyone actually care?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38554384

In these progressive times in which we live, should players' sexuality determine their career? I don't think we're anywhere near removing the mysogynistic reputation of football fans, and racism is still evident across the footballing sphere albeit to a lesser extent than in previous years, so would gay footballers fare any worse than other minorities within the game?

It seems to me that they wouldn't if enough of them came out and I'd agree that a synchronised announcement might be best; the first player to come out would undoubtedly get all of the derision and risks putting off anyone else revealing their secret.

At the end of the day, I rate Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player of his generation and it matters not to me whether he is or isn't straight; I would love to have him in our team, as would any other fan the world over. If he came out, and I'm not suggesting that he has anything to announce one way or another, would that make him less of a player? Less of a man? Less of a role model for kids everywhere? No.

Erm 666? What's that got to do with Nugent signing?
If we are going off on a tangent....
The best fans award will be presented for the first time tonight in Zurich, for an outstanding fan moment or gesture from the calendar year.

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have a joint nomination for the award for their rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” ahead of last year's Europa League fixture which came a day before the Hillsborough disaster’s 27th anniversary.

Iceland's supporters at Euro 2016 are also nominated for their Icelandic clap, as are ADO Den Haag's for when they threw soft toys to Feyenoord's fans to be given to Rotterdam’s Sophia Children’s Hospital.

and I would go for ADO Den Haag...
