To me thinking about Manchester United is like having a fantasy about Camilla Parker-Bowles. Why bother?

always found oldnewtonheath to be a decent poster in fairness. he gave as good as he got,and at least he never felt the need to post as a city fan in an attempt to make all blues seem the same,as joe did with united!

bluegumption,if city were a woman they'd be clare balding. even if she was the last woman on earth you just coudn't. and if city were the last club on earth, you still coudn't bring yourself to support them.

even though that's a dig at City, it's still funny as...

Fallowfieldred - you have no idea what I could or could not do. And if Manchester United were a woman they would never have as much class as Camilla.

If united were a woman they would be janet street porter, utterly repulsive, no redeeming features!

Despite the rivalry mancunian reds probably accept that blues who have been going week in week out putting up with terrible sh11te for years deserve a little bit of glory. Do we want them to knock us off our perch (as if), hell no. In fact truth be told, we dont want them to win anything but I have good friends who are blue regulars and I dont begrudge their enjoyment of their good fortune.
I just hope that now City look like having their own success, they can stop this obsession with United and stop making up rubbish like there are no United fans in Manchester when they know its not true.
Part of me wants City to fall flat on their face, but on the other hand as well as being a red, I am a proud Mancunian and to have Manchester's two clubs dominating Europe does have some attraction.

Expensive failure

The club that used to go on about having a soul then stuck a $ on it and sold out...

That's funny coming from muplc, stockmarket participants selling out in 1992

The difference is United fans didn't pertend they were different, we didn't claim we were the 'real' club or 'club with a soul' the thing is when it really came down to it City fans didn't give a damn...

Turns out it was an empty insult they would throw at United...

When you think of Manchester United what do you think of?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eric Cantona attacking a Crystal Plalce Supporter
Roy Keane trying to snap Haalands Leg
Loads of class
Denis Law sending you down
fergie attacking referees
Billion £'s of debt

When I think of Man City I think of delusional fans who will believe any old rubbish that makes United look bad

Laws goal made zero difference, it was second-to-last game of season, we needed to win both games, which we didn't, AND have other results go our way, which they didn't.

We finished 3 points from safety with poorer goal diff (2 points for a win back then) so even if we'd knocked 100 past City, we'd have gone down.

United fans I am sure realised clubs don't have souls (neither do people but thats another story)

I am sure United fans were pretty confident United were a real club also.... it is only city fans who used to believe this rubbish... until the money came along then they were only to happy to sell out those beliefs...

Don't they always say they're mancunions and then call us citeh, completely missing the irony of slagging off the accent?

i think my point is (as well as the fact that I am Mancunian) my post was pretty fair to City. Of course I don't want them to win things, and I am sure you think the same about United. But I have City supporting friends both here in Spain and back in Manchester and we chat about football and they are buzzing about what has happened to the club and being in the champions league. I don't begrudge that at all and I am not in the slightest bit bitter about it. In fact yesterday I booked my blue mate's flights from Malaga to Valencia for the Villareal game (€8 each way !!).
In respect of the accent, Citeh isn't supposed to be a mancunian accent but reflects the fact that a large proportion of City's fans come from the satellite mill towns of Oldham , Bury, Rochdale etc. In a mancunian accent you wouldn't pronounce the T, it would be more like ci ee.
