That absolute mug Shearer saying it wasn't a foul, it was 'just aggressive' sums up the knuckled headed one's hypocrisy.

Yeah, I did have to laugh when he said, it was just aggressive..... well that's OK then.
he also said Aguero was the only world class player in the PL, so its worth taking what he says with a pinch of salt and moving on.

The goal was given and Chelsea won 3-1, time to move on now until the next moment of controversy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is precisely what I DON'T get about people getting into such entrenched positions when discussing a decision post-match.
Notihng fans say or do is going to change the result and redistribute the points, but from the partisan line so many take on any given passage of play you'd think that acknowledging that the ref got it right or wrong was actually going to change the outcome.
Fans on both sides should just submit to my superior, neutral opinion.
No, just no Ioag
I agree, not that this decision was going to change the outcome of the game. Their fans should have closer look at their players like Ozil, Sanches and Co for not turning up in this match.
Still, why do you think Alonso's was a faul ?
Firstly Bellerin shoves Costa with his hands which could've been a pen. No one talking about this?
Alonso at no point takes his eye if the ball. It was a coming together of players. Not one Arsenal player appealed for a foul against Bellerin.
Only Wenger complained after the game and his sheep follow. Was not a foul and was not the reason you lost

Why do you think the goal shouldn't have stood. Alonso had the right to attack the ball. Bellerin was late with his jump and missjudged the flight of the ball , whereas Alonso timed it perfectly and was always favourite to meet the ball first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fack, I typed out a lengthy reply to this about 2 hours ago and just realised it didn't get printed; must've pressed the wrong button.
Basically what I said, is that I didn't feel it was a clear cut case and could understand the decision going either way, but that as I saw it both players jumped at the same time, albeit Bellerín somewhat desperately, but that Alonso was only able to make contact BECAUSE he'd elbowed Bellerín's bonce out of the way beforehand.
The thing is that this is all with the benefit of hindsight and after watching umpteen replays from different angles.
The refs decision was fraction of a second stuff, very, very hard to see in real time. Suffice it to say that it even took a bit of time for the Arsenal players closest to Bellerín to realise he'd been knocked almost cold.

What do you mean Ozil didn't turn up? He had a front seat view to Hazard's goal. I almost wrote an article about it this morning.
Bov, yes, I have. In fact, I've been talking about the penalty on Costa since last night. And I'm not influenced by Wenger, as I haven't read or heard his statements, and I'm not influenced by my suport either, as I'm not an Arsenal fan.
My reading of the events is as follows:
Spaniard crosses.
Spaniard commits foul on Spaniard, who nevertheless hits the bar with his effort.
Spaniard reaches loose ball before other Spaniard, but hits him with an elbow to the jaw, so the passage should be invalidated.
However, if it had been a Belgian taking the ensuing penalty and not Spaniard 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, then I would probably be saying that Alonso's effort should've stood.

Yes, It was all about the Spaniards for the opening goal yesterday. I dunno, but I think Alonso didn't raise the elbow to hurt Bellerin, you could see him making a jump fractions earlier than Bellerin. Then it's dificult once you are up in the air you have less control of your movement. Alonso was there first to meet the ball and had his eyes firmly on the flight of the ball.
I don't think he wanted to hurt him either - intentional elbow to head is a bit psycho if you ask me.
Regarding the timing of each player's jump, there is really very, very little in it. As said, in all the action was too fast imo to pin the blame on the ref if you do think it was a foul. It's ludicrous to expect them to see everything that happens on the pitch.
If the roles were reversed and the defender had made a clearance with a similar header, we would never expect a penalty to be given. Alonso wanted the ball more than Bellerin, who poor bstrd, was all alone in the centre of the penalty area with Costa and Alonso! That's the real crime!
You do know one of those Spaniards is Brazilian? 😉

There was of course and entirely intentional elbow direct to the face of Hazard.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly! I can't believe we are talking about Alsonso's non-foul. The only elbow in the game (which was also intentional!) was Gabriel's on Hazard. However, I would prefer him to continue playing in the team - so I hope he does not receive a retrospective ban.
Only mentioned in the context of their whining. Let them look for excuses while we get on with winning the league. Haven't really hurt much on the elbow to Hazard which was so blatant, not really any need to but if they're going to have the cheek to look for such poor excuses, let's actually look at things with some balance.
Chelsea would've scored as many goals as necessary to win that game regardless, never got out of second gear. They'd rather point fingers anywhere but their own team to take attention away from such a pathetic mentality within the club.
