So much bias in some of these comments. Just man up and take your blinkers off ffs. This is how it is:
Wilshere is 25, Winks is 21. Wilshere broke into the team at 19 ahead of the likes of Denilson and the permanently-injured Diaby. Not too sure where Winks was at 19 but the likes of Mason, Bentaleb and Paulinho were ahead of him - fair to say that neither of their routes to first-team football were blocked by stellar competition.
Wilshere has basically been injured for 5 years. That doesn't mean he's Tom Cleverley. Unless Kompany is crap too?
It's hard to judge exactly how good Wilshere is now but at the same time it's extremely hypocritical to say Winks is better based off his 6 starts and 14 sub appearances or whatever he's made considering the way everyone laughed at the Arsenal fans to hail Wilshere as the saviour after his display vs Barca in 2011.

Pretty spot on - other than snidely making the tired Barca comments: that one great night. Fact is at 18/19, Wilshere finished the 2010/2011 season as Arsenal's player of the season, pretty much every young player of the year award, most league player of the year shortlists and made pretty much every team of the season compiled that year. He was supremely consistent as the engine of Arsenal's midfield. It's a tragedy that he has not had one single season since then without major injuries, including a near 2-season straight absence. That takes its toll - both physically and mentally - and I honestly don't think he'll ever recover.

On pure talent I there is no comparison between Winks and Wilshere.
I would not have Wilshere over Winks in the squad though. He is a self-destructive waster, pure and simple. Arrogant and entitled, and ultimately not a player that can be counted on during a season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm....
Doesn't seem to live the life which could well contribute to the injuries and speaks volumes about his attitude and dedication, but Arsenal's injury record is abysmal anyway. Not too sure how professional/unprofessional Ramsey is but his muscles are shot to pieces
I wonder if HRH feels the same about Gazza and his problems off the field, which were 10x worse
You call Winks mediocre but I guarantee that he will make a career in the PL
I'm not sure Zelalem will. Making him worse than mediocre
No such "guarantee" exists. And mediocre players make PL careers.
Zelalem is also a full year younger. At his current age, Winks didn't have a single domestic appearance for you. Iwobi, who's a starter now at Arsenal was a reserve player at this time last season. So things change quickly. So you're not "sure" of sheite.
Still don't get the relevance of these comparisons to my statement that Winks has been mediocre.
Well I disagree that he's been mediocre regardless

Of course Gascoigne wasted his potential, not sure what point you are trying to make.
The huge difference between the two is that Gascoigne has mitigating mental issues which contributed towards his downfall, whereas Wilshere is pretty much just an r sole
