which is why I have been saying since SAF retired that we need to change the entire transfer policy, bring in a Sporting Director(or whatever you want to call him) and sign players to suit a system of football you want to play, and also appoint the managers in accordance with that system, the constant changing of managers and 'philosophies' makes it very, very difficult to maintain a consistent level of performance, literally every successful club in Europe is run this way, but we still refuse to change, which is why for the last 4 years its been nothing but an unmitigated shambles in practically every department of the club, Ed Woodward couldnt run a f**king bath never mind the actual football side of a football club.

Ed Woodward is an accountant, and a very good one, he should not be in charge of the football side of this club, everything he touches turns to shiiiiite

Agree.
I was thinking this very thought while watching City yesterday.
They have a clear direction, know which players and management will fit their particular philosophy and,in doing so,will in the long term have a far more stable future.
We dont have that and I dont think we will.

It's like we still think that because we're Manchester United that somehow things will magically work out if they throw enough money at it, its beyond stupid, and I cant actually believe that its gotten to this point, with supposedly experienced people running the club, its on Omni-shambles.

Yep.
We'll try to 'buy our way out of this' seems to be the main responce from the higher ups at OT if we're going on the activity over the past few years since SAF retired.
The club's main concerns seem to be about attracting commercial partners.

Also, what makes this all amusing is the fact the club was banging on about how they had a plan once the inevitable day came when SAF would call it a day.
(And no one can convince me that David Moyes was the answer ?
)
The simple fact is they (United) didn't have a fecking clue what to do.

and the Chief Wazzock of the operation has still got a facking job, in what other universe would a CEO oversee 4 years of unparalleled tossbaggery and still keep his job? he has overseen a recruitment policy both on and off the pitch that has failed across the board with no exceptions and still walks away every year with a handsome salary

Because he and his team are bringing in the commercial deals and the Glazers are happy with that it seems.

People talk about Arsenal needing shake-up,well I think they're a hell lot more stable than us.

Agree but the likelihood of that materializing ?
Highly unlikely.
Think how United are ran currently is something which is going to continue until the money runs out.

For an accountant he's pretty liberal with the cash. You'd have thought he'd at least try and get value for money instead of largely paying 2 x 3 times what a players worth.

I don't think we made a silly financial decision with Pogba. There are plenty of ways we will get our money back with him. And I'm fairly certain the Adidas deal has subtle nudges to sign big Adidas players,

Probably true in the adidas part. But you ain't convincing me poggy was a good deal.

To be fair, the problem started with Sir Alex. You can't convince me that we had an obvious identity during the last 3 or 4 years of his tenure (unless "over-reliance on player who should be retired" was our identity).

Moyes inherited a team without an identity, and had no direction from an inept CEO.

The whole transition was a farce.

If you combine the fact he was the most sought after Young talent in football with his marketability and the adidas thing it wasn't a bad deal.

I'd never say he was a bargain because he wasn't. But I don't think with everything taken into account we massively overpaid.
