I not sure anything will be certain after Saturday, plenty of twists and turns still to be played out

posted on 20/4/17

Like Bunk says plenty of twists and turns to come. That is what happens in the Championship. There seems to be at least one shock result most weeks.

The situation we are in this season is not wholly down to the owner although his share of the blame is substantial. All three managers have played a part in getting us to where we are as have all the players.

However, over the period of his stewardship the owner should consider himself entirely responsible for five years of uninterrupted decline on and mainly off the pitch. Hang your head in shame FAH.

On the subject of Saturday's game: I'm guessing we will play with a lone striker, if we do it has to be a striker playing up front. If Jamie Ward is again up front then not only will we not score, but the idiots on here and elsewhere who can only offer 'Sack the Manager' as a way to improve will have a field day.

Also Carayol has to start; the other nine can be pretty much take your pick.

We definitely had a new manager bounce, but only resulting in draws against two pretty good sides. Let's be honest, MW has done a lot in the short time he's been here, but he's not exactly working with grade A material. The change in playing style sadly needs some better players to be effective. Whatever happens in the next few weeks, we need a damn good clear out this Summer.

Warbs is only in the door but he needs to wake up and prioritise goalscoring and immediately look at utilising the £5m striker we have on our bench, or the £3.5m attacking goalscoring midfielder Zach Clough, not too mention the £10m+ young striker we have just unearthed in Brereton who the top clubs are already sniffing after.

There's a reason these guys have high price tags, so why is Warbs persisting with playing a winger out of position up front in Ward who lets face it was a free signing. We've got prime rib at our disposal and Warbs is throwing the Tesco burger meat on the grill hoping to cook a filet mignon!!! Time is of the essence and we simply dont have the time for any more mindless tinkering, play your best players available in their best positions, hardly rocket science....

I think only warburton understands why we have a winger up front and a striker on the wings when the strikers aren't a getting the service and we are struggling to put balls in the box.

We need a win against reading. It will only get harder to get these points as the the games go on.

Our away record is abysmal so we can can already chalk QPR away as a loss, and McCarthy sides are notorious 'battling' teams, which we struggle against, that coupled with all the 'last-day' pressure on them, I'm not looking forward to it.

Hopefully reading have some form of pressure on them to solidate a playoff place, and will come at us. We always do better against these teams when they bring the game to us.

But hey... we only win against teams in the top 3, and look where reading are

All games are different. If you go out all guns blazing in all three games, chances are that one will be won, and that will be enough. That's what 'Arry will do, he'll get them fired up and have a good go at it. If you play the cautious game you're in trouble - Reading are better and the other two, having nothing especially to play for, will be relaxed. Nervous teams make mistakes. Whichever of Forest or Blackburn can seize the day will survive.

Kind of agree Vidal, but a good manager will know which can be won with an all guns blazing approach, and go cautious in the other two. My guess is that QPR will be the one to go all guns blazing. It is their last home game so they will be going for the win. That is when we should have the attitude 'if you score two, we'll score three'.

While Ipswich would take a draw away on the last day and are probably the most likely to park the bus, making a silly mistake and giving them something to hold on to could be what sinks us 😳

IF you go down (and I don't think you actually will), any news on the potential affect on the new takeover?

May the deal even fall through?

The Nottingham Post are saying relegation will not affect the takeover.

Make of that what you like 🤔

I reckon Forest, Blackburn and Wigan will all lose their next two games leading to a last day freak out.

To be fair to Warburton, he has inherited a pretty dire situation in terms of a large, fragmented squad. As someone said in a previous thread, there was little rhyme or reason to most of the summer signings as they were mostly for areas that didn't need strengthening and seemed to be signed as they were "available". Don't forget, Al Hasawi blamed all of those on the Greek...

The signings in January have all been ineffective other than Clough. The lack of any kind of planning has landed Forest in this situation. It will be a minor miracle if Warburton keeps Forest up.

Other teams at the bottom have limited teams but don't lack for spirit. Forest have some decent players on paper but lack spirit and guile.

Perhaps Gunter and McCleary will have some sympathy for the place that made their reputations and will score an own goal apiece!

. . . and Chambers and McGoldrick will follow suit.

McCarthynis never going to send a team out to go toe to toe footballing-wise. He is very much one for giving nothing away so it could be a grim battle. Having seen Forest blunder through 90 minutes against similar opposition in Blackburn, I would not be wanting Forrest to go into that game needing a win at all costs, although I suspect that might be the case.

Hmmmm, hence why I wrote what I wrote at the top!

If the usually [for us] blank firing Golddick scores on the final day to send us down, that will really be rubbing salt into the wound.

I hope Warburton understands that they're no points for artistic content come the final whistle and parks the bus at QPR. That plus some sort of result against Reading might just do it on goal difference?

Seem to have a lot of ex-players in these last three teams that Forest are facing. Also Lynch at QPR who I had forgotten about.

Lovely day for a match. Shame I am stuck at work as usual! 🙁

This is a day for heroes! I fancy young Clough will really show why Forest invested so much in him. Reading won't know much about him and he may get quite a bit of room to work some magic.

Won't be able to listen to RN today so need some good updates of events at the CG, people!

Question for Warburton is does he finally give Vellios that staring role? I can only assume that the Greek isn't impressing in training or there are other matters going on behind the scenes with him. Lacking some stickability up front and I reckon he would be the best option to resolve that issue. He isn't dynamic but I think it would bring Osborn, Clough and Brereton into play more if they had someone holding the ball up consistently.

Assombalonga is a real quandary at the moment. Showed little against Blackburn that would make me think he should be starting today if I am honest. No doubting he is a top quality finisher. Just feel it isn't going his way and the harder he tries, the more frustrated he is getting.
