What's he won ? All the above managers have been fairly successful

it's to do with resources. But for the last two years, Mourinho has not been better for example!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Atletico Madrid have less resources and seem to do better than Spurs in comparison.

Show some respect

He's an emerging force. Had doubts about him when he was young, demonstrated massive tactical naivety particularly in the CL with Milan, but since replacing Conte at Juventus he's stepped up big time. Matured into an Incredibly savvy manager.

He's the perfect manager for Arsenal right now. With a few signings the squad is good enough to meet top 4 at least, the infrastructure is fantastic, the money's there to spend, all they really need is a manager with a fresh approach who knows what he's doing. No-one better in that respect right now than Allegri, not even Conte.

What a short sighted list. For me 1-2 bad seasons does not a bad manager make.

Mourinho Guardiola and Ancelotti should be the top 3. And in that order.

And people (ลท ï d ล›) saying poch! Leave it out. He has literally done nothing yet. You lot are deluded as they come.

Not better - INFINITELY better.

He's achieved much more with far fewer resources up against much tougher opponents both domestically and in Europe.

You have to be blind in both eyes not to see that.

What a god-awful list
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a god good list mate
----------------------------------------------------------------------

No, it's totally lop-sided.

Simeone should be top of the list, imo.

You said it's a good list, but there are loads of contestable points, imo.

Ancelotti I would not personally in the top 5.

Luis Enrique and Zidane in the top 10 is very questionable.

Most of the managers near the top are there because they've managed sides that dominate their leagues mainly because they have resources beyond their opponents' reach.

Where's Sampaoli for leading a second-tier Chile to consecutive Copa America titles?

Don't Emery's struggles at PSG highlight just how good a job Blanc did there, especially considering they were far more dominant too than Ancelotti before him?

On the same ground you get Jardim in there, why not anyone who's had a good CL run and gotten close to the big boys domestically...Klopp's achieved more, for example - so he's not a good manager because he had a poor season with BvB?

It's just a flavour of the month list with pasta and pizza as the main ingredients on the menu.

Dunno who's the more over rated manager out of Poch & Klopp

posted on 28/4/17

What's Mourinho done over the last two seasons to warrant being considered as high as fifth in the world "at the moment" ?

He had a horror show season last season and this season he's struggling to get an incredibly expensive Man Utd squad into the top four.

Zidane? Give me Real Madrid & i'd probably be on that list..

Maybe i'm bias but Poch must be close to that list?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes Poch is close but needs European success.

Klopp should be in there considering dreadful squad he has at Pool

"At the moment" or "a couple of seasons" is such a kneejerk way of rating a manager though.

Just as you can't have a player who's exceptional every game, you can't have a manager who's exceptional every season.

You can't really pronounce Mourinho a spent force (and I doubt many await that day as eagerly as yours truly) until he's strung together a fair number of underperforming seasons.

He was still league champion 2 years ago, United have lifted a minor trophy this year and are on course for a second ... hardly the stuff of dreams for a club like theirs but far too early to say JM's not a top-drawer manager any more.

As likeable as I think the guy is, Ancelotti if you ask me is one of the most overrated on that list, he's just a genius at making career choices.

Hmmm.. Carlo had Chelsea playing fast flowing sexy football. In his first season we smashed the premier league record for the amount of goals scored (103).

You seem to underrate for some reason.

Btw. I agree with your post regarding Simeone.

Claudio Ranieri should also be on the list as his feet with Leicester last season was nothing short of amazing.

Ok, my final comment was harsh, but I think that people are kinder to Ancelotti because he's so mellow.

Above all, I rate his man management. I can't remember any great controversies with him. Players seem comfortable when he's around, which is a very big ask when you look at the teams and egos he's managed.

On the flip side though, considering how Guardiola's achievements are played down because of the teams he's managed, how different is Carlo?
