Dennis Wise - Does he get enough credit

Terry on when he started to train with the first team

"When the older players used to say I couldn't kick them, Marcel and Dennis Wise would say to them: 'leave him, he's a young boy, he's learning, he wants to win'.

"Without the support of the likes of Dennis and Marcel growing up, maybe I wouldn't have been the leader or the captain [that I am].

"I had two great captains to learn from."

'I would go in and win tackles against first team players, and I remember at the time people were going, “Ooh, you can’t do that",' he said.
'Sometimes, the foreign guys especially, didn’t like it. Dan Petrescu, once, he got me round the throat, and said “What do you think you’re doing?!”
'The first one over, to back me up, was Wisey: “If you’ve got something to say, you say it to me, not the younger players.” Me and Dan laugh about it now.'

I loved Wisey's competitive nature. For a small man he had big bollox, like when he was filming the Galatasaray fans while they were bricking the coach.

You will always win things when you have people in your team with that never-concede-defeat mentality.

I liked also when he was getting dogs abuse off the Spurs fans after the 6-1 at the Lane and his response was just to give them a little wave. They were proper fuming.

And how can we forget the San Siro

A precursor to the Torres goal in the Nou Camp.

I know he was great for you but I hate that little cant for what he did when he was with us, facking cant 😡

I'll never forget Wisey's goal in the San Siro - apart from the fact it was a "Facking great goal", I was watching it in the North Sea in a storm force ten.

There was a screen set up in the dining hall and the tables and chairs hadn't been secured properly and everyone was sliding all over the place - great night in the middle of a huge Naval exercise!

Dennis Wise does not get enough credit by Chelsea fans just like Herman Crespo who scored crucial goals for Chelsea during his two stints for Chelsea.

Wisey isn't talked about much these days however I will never underestimate his contribution. When he missed a game we missed him, fortunately he didn't miss too many.

Vets do stuff like that all the time.

I think he's often more underrated as a player more so than a captain.

I know you could say "it wouldn't take that much"

But for me he was a better footballer than Matic is. Very good distribution.

Effort/Heart? Like JT i don't think that could ever be questioned.

Very bad attitude. It's moments like that that show someone's true character. Petrescu seems like a cuuunt.

Petrescu was not a cuuunt and loved Chelsea!

Did you read the story about him and Terry? Clearly a cuuunt.

Tell me how you feel if a young trainee risked your season or even career by going in too hard just to impress the gaffer. Veterans typically have to tell juniors to take it easy because they're too eager to make an impression. If JT went in too hard when he'd already been warned, Petrescu would've probably been fuming. Wisey had probably taken a liking to him.

If. You have two conditions here. If he went in too hard and if he'd been warned.

So you read a story on the internet and automatically believe it?
