I think that although he has been fantastic in parts for us, that if we are to evolve as a team to challenge the european elite then we can replace him. If we go for lukaku or something then we will regret it imo.

Costa would have been a massive part of us winning 2 league titles, but its been in a poor era. and He's still only had 1 good whole season(first half of this season and first half of 2015) in his time with us.

Really do believe that in willian, pedro and most notably hazard, if we had a striker of benzemas ilk we would hit 100 goals a season as it would free up those players more.

Rather have Lukaku anyway, the PL golden boot winner is coming back to where he belongs. Think he'll hit 30 for us in the PL next season & 40 in all comps

Kane v Lukaku will pretty much be the golden boot for the next 10 years, Rashford added in too when Mourinho gets sacked & the new manager plays him every game up front

He seems to be a guy who has a good first half anseason then rapidly fades.

Have to admit I won't be that sad to see Costa leave and I won't miss his massive dips in form that we've see too often over the last two seasons.

Hopefully we go into next season with more than one good option up front as well as we'll be fighting on multiple fronts.

Costa has 51 goals in 83 PL games for us. That is ridiculously good.

Anyone who thinks it will be easy to replace Costa is very mistaken. However I think it is more than possible and even possible to get an upgrade *cough* Sanchez

Although I think Lukaku has improved, it's still gonna be a shlt ton of money to spend on a player that hasn't been tested at the very highest level or performed at a club where the pressure is really on

It certainly won't be easy to replace Costa as on his day he's unplayable but I can remember many of our fans saying that we'd never be able to replace Drogba.

Ironically I can remember quite a lot of our fans being very unsure about us signing Costa in the summer before he arrived saying that he'd never be able to fill Drogba's boots etc.

Very difficult to replace Biggish, perhaps we should contract Atletico Madrids CF scout for the summer - he normally comes up trumps!

What about signing Alvaro Negredo instead of Lukaku.If Negredo doesn't work then we should go all out for Lukaku next summer.

Negredo is not a bad shout tbh...as a BACK UP, no way should he be our leading striker.

I really want us to go all out for Icardi.

If you want someone to replace Costa in terms of they will get goals, good finisher with his front to goal, good on the counter and playing on the front foot, in general a playing style that has same strengths and weaknesses as Costa then Lukaku is best choice. The gap between him and Costa has been shortening season by season to point he's nearly on same level for me. How often does the golden boot go to someone outside the top 4? And at 23 to boot. I do find it ironic some of Costa's biggest fans are Lukaku's biggest detractors.

The only time Lukaku comes anywhere near costa is when Costa is in one of his moods. When Costa is playing well he is a much better striker. I am not against signing Lukaku at the right price, however if we are talking stupid money (70-80) we should be looking else where as honestly the guy is worth 45 at the most.

Overal its not Costa could be hard to replace, he will be very hard replace - not the guy who falls over but the guy who scores the match winning goals and terrorises defences for 90 minutes

I've been critical of costa this season. And usually about his overall game for the last 2 years but lukaku is nowhere near a good costa for me. Costa scores vital goals and also is a big presence defensively like drogba was
