You are not speaking for me.

After the events of Monday night, cheering against Manchester, what ever the occasion, or event just feels totally wrong and disloyal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

wtf?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As i said, there is no right or wrong, just my personal feelings. I have to say though, given that you support Liverpool, I find the style/tone of your post very surprising.

Could be worth it if he comes good the youngster, we nurtured him then sent him on an expensive loan to Italy to gain experience

City have spent hundreds of millions on their academy in the last 10 years and haven't got one first teamer yet.

Why?What on earth has the tragedy got to do with this football match?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It has everything to do with the City of Manchester and how the people of that city have been affected.

Hillsborough had a profound effect on the city of Liverpool and still does.

I therefore find it surprising that a Liverpool fan has such an apparent lack of empathy.

I didn't say it should, i just expressed my feelings to the OP who said he spoke for everybody. Unlike that claim, i am just speaking for myself, I am not putting down a moral judgement.

You want to judge empathy on people supporting other teams when they dont need to? i can feel terrible for what happened in manchester doesnt mean i suddenly want them to win, a win wont bring back those who died.

Ok, so you think that the people of Manchester that support City want United to win?
Hillsborough has an affect as every tragedy does. Did that mean that I expected everyone to want us to win the league and FA Cup that year after it? Of course not.

If you think that a "lack of empathy" is being demonstrated regarding this horrific event because I don't want a team to win a game of football then you are the one who has things very warped. You need to grow up a bit.

he never said anyone lacks empathy, its just his own viewpoint

I have not once on this thread told people how they should feel or react. I have expressed my own feelings only.

I do personally interpret the tone of your posts as demonstrating a lack of empathy. They come across as mildy hostile and a little angry.

I can see where he's coming from, there will be hundreds if not thousands directly or indirectly affected by the bombing, family and friends of those killed, family and friends of those still in hospital plus the actual people still in hospital. I'm sure among that many people, some will be watching the game and if United winning can take their mind off things for 90 minutes, even bring a smile or cheer, however short lived then it's only a good thing.

But, I also get that some just wouldn't support us ever, regardless, and will not attach the events of Monday to the football match at hand. That's exactly what our players need to do as well to be fair.

I am not judging, I am intepreting your posts on here. All they appear focused on is the pure tribal hatred between Liverpool and Manchester United.

From your posts and the other Liverpool fan, there appears no room for even the slighted temperance in this tribalism. As i said earlier, given you are both Liverpool fans, i find that a little surprising.

Yeah, the "wtf" comment that you pounced on was dripping with hostility.
And hiding behind " I have expressed my own views"- well yes you have, you expressed the view that my comment lacked empathy. And I expressed that you have a very warped view on things.

In what way am i hiding? I have explicitly expressed my thoughts. .

Personally, I find it a bit depressing that less than 48 hours after the events of Monday, football tribalism can still win out.

you could argue that football tribalism winning out is a positive thing, people carrying on regardless means we win.
