so rangers were infact liable to pay tax then?
and hmrc are just disputing the amount they paid? From my understanding after a few hours reading up on this, rangers paid very little tax, if any, and done the whole EBT thing with their players, with money going offshore to avoid paying tax.
therfore, from my understanding (which as we have gathered is very little lol) rangers should have paid tax, but didnt. no "loophole" involved, they just didnt pay taxes that they were due to pay?

It looks like Rangers FC have tried to use what they though was a loophole and have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
I don't know if it's true though, thats what is being reported.
If the reports are true Rangers are in a lot of trouble. HMRC will not be like another creditor. They will take what is owed, aswell as whatever fine is imposed.
The resulting administration (if there is a club left) would mean that any debtors would only receive a fraction of what is owed.
This is all hearsay though, nobody on here knows the facts.
i guess time will tell then! lol
If you are looking for some honest informed information on the reality behind Rangers tax situation then I would suggest you are in the wrong place.
