Wiki reads: “He was appointed after everyone else turned down the job, and his name was successfully drawn out of a hat by chairman Andrea Radrizzani.”

60% win record
----------------------------------------------------------------------

For the annual Cypriot champions. Is there room on the other end of that straw for me to clutch onto as well?!

Seriously we can analyse his past record to justify or slate him, it's irrelevant we have him now, let's hope we look back in 6 months time on an inspired punt, not a cheapskate disaster

I'm with Don and Rich on this. He's no Hockaday.
And Europa is not a tin pot cup. I'm giving him
my backing. As for players leaving, our squad are
all signed (pontus will be july 1). No problem there.

Of course we ALL will back him, just underwelming. May be a master stroke. As for the players, ALL have their price

Simon O'Rourke twitter
Can't really find anything negative on #LUFC new boy, Tommy C. Only positive. A few articles suggesting he's a possible "next big thing".

I like the last a lot.

I see the same old posters are posting doom & gloom already, predicting the same old doom & gloom

Fook off with the doom & gloom. Wait and see with him. More importantly who we sign.

Exactly Harrogate I see it as he is an upcoming young manager with a real football background / pedigree

So LUFC'S two European Trophies are tinpot?

Played for Barcelona. Must respect the passing style of football.

uefa cup used to be at least as tough a cup to win as the european cup... not quite the same now with the top 3-4 teams going into the champions league and not all the entrants in the europa taking it seriously.

Whichever to get to last 16 with a team from cyprus is an achievement

Apoel, were regular contenders in the Champions League, to get to last 16 in Europa League one season is hardly earth shattering for them.

Doom & gloom doom & gloom

jonty they had one good run in the champs league a few years back... recently they get dumped out of the CL and dumped out of the europa at the league stage.
Which is what happened the year before he took over... so to get edged out by fc copenhagen in the CL qualifiers, win their group in the europa and then make last 16 is an achievement.

couple of questions

How would people have felt had we appointed Marco Silva a couple of weeks ago ?
How many people had heard of Marco Silva 6 months ago.

milky, one wonders if they'd have made it out of group stage if they'd not face an 8 year old team from kazakhstan.

perhaps fella, they topped their group, they won in olympiakos - a big deal for them.

Don't get me wrong i'm not defending the appointment as my other posts testify - i'm merely looking for glimmers of optimism!

Reality is it's a punt - some are pointing out other punts that have worked, and it's true this one might too. Plenty don't.

Actually plenty of seemingly sound appointments don;t work either. I'm more concerned at it looking like a cheapskate appointment - the lack of investment in the team that it most-likely gives a pointer to - than i am by the appointment itself.

No problem if the club wants to find a young up and coming manager if it's part of a strategy/plan.

Agree with all your saying milky, its the bigger picture that worries me and the rationale behind decisions.

how long before Andrea Radrizzani liquidates the club? that is where we are heading with this crook

What is wrong with you all? I am done with you lot fed up with the GLOOM all the time.

Woe is me, woe is me, woe is life, woe is me, it is not all about gloom & doom & moaning on & on & on FFS

Dave Moyes wasn't a punt after Sir Fergibald - even touted for by AF - That went well!

To be perfectly frank the manager is not my major concern - the starting Eleven in game 1 is.
