shut up robb.... my "lack of tolerance" doesn't influence millions of people.
Katie hopkins showing disgust at people coming together to morn and show peace, whilst calling for action and tweeting about a final solution reaches millions.

If you think she influences anyone you're very wrong

That's a strange comment to make Robb.
How can you possibly argue that Katie Hopkins influences literally nobody?

I'm not saying anything different.... Just that this divisive journalism can have influence, just like an ISIS website can do.
These things are complex and all avenues should be explored and discussed, without people calling you an idiot for bringing up a potentially valid opinion (and i put "imo" and was not stating anything as fact)

Well, maybe she does but I'd be shocked if anything she says could ever influence someone to attack innocent people
I'd say the biggest influence by far was the actual attacks on people in Manchester and London
The mainstream media isn't particularly...mainstream nowadays, the readership has been declining for years. Far more concerning to me is the streams of unregulated content on the internet and social media, both in terms of opinion pieces and giving a voice to people that don't know what they're talking about and in the immediate aftermath of events when it works like Chinese whispers and fiction becomes fact.
As there are so many people with voices on it and content is viewed and digested so quickly nowadays, everyone has to compete to gain exposure and so views and opinions go to the extreme of every debate.
Add on top of that, you have the two main political parties where one of them is striking a deal with the DUP and the other is being led by someone who has called Hamas and Hezbollah friends and its no wonder we have a divided society that is more accepting of extreme views than would normally seem even remotely credible.
Very rarely do I agree with the Queen, but the country is absolutely in a very sombre, and increasingly dangerous, mood. Factor in brexit as well and when the repercussions of that really hit, then I really do worry what legacy we are going to be passing on to our children.

Just Shoot, it is a great point and what really worries me about the way certain media outlets sneer at the idea of people coming together to show peace and love after these attacks.
These attacks are against all walks of life and we often see people of all backgrounds come together... But now that is being seen as a liberal snowflake thing to do, the divisions just grow deeper.

Your response there is sad Ji
We can agree on a million football issues and speak common sense all year round but when we disagree on one particular thing you suddenly reach for the 'no wonder you have issues with people' card.
That sort of 0-60 anger is why I feel nobody in these debates, left of right can claim any moral high ground.
You claim to want to stop people being divisive and yet you are being divisive. The truth is we're all guilty in some way or another and if you want to suddenly throw the towel in on years of agreeing on stuff and generally being a couple of the sanest people on a website of the Strettys of the world just because I have an issue with how you claim to perceive the world then that is sad.
The angrier and insulting you get, the more you become like the people you look down your nose at.
But I understand why. You're emotional. You probably don't actually mean those things. Much like columnists in the Daily Mail write impassioned and emotional pieces after acts of savagery. It's just an opinion. We all have one.

Anything can influence people. Papers like the Guardian can influence people negatively.
I showed you a column by Piers Morgan looking to bring people together. I'm still waiting for these articles where people are being told to attack muslims. I'm here all day.

The likes of Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson are as much hate preachers than the likes of Anjam Choudhary. In fact, they should be inside as well for peddling consistent hatred and bile across social media.
It's disgusting that scuumbags like them are given air time and there are fools that have the gall to defend them. Disgrace.
Robb, where have I said that there is an article telling people to attack muslims... Again, you are being frustratingly illogical and it's really infuritaing.
I said that the DM have published articles sneering at the idea of peace and togetherness, while calling for action, without ever saying what action is required. They are not stupid enough to be specific about what action people should take... But that kind of ambiguous call for action is dangerous.
Of course, Katie Hopkins literally did make a call to action when she said that we need a final solution... But that was not in the daily mail and was not the point I was making.

Where are these articles sneering at peace and togetherness? Where are these ambiguous articles calling for action?
The reason I'm defending the newspaper is that I read it every day (amongst things like the Independent as im smart enough to spread my outside influences) and I don't see what it is you talk of
I'm not for one second saying that the Mail is some beatnik peace pipe left wing newspaper because it's not. It's a newspaper that reflects its readership - mainly a centre right majority who don't want innocent Muslim(s) killed like on Sunday night any more than a Guardian reader does.
robb, it is not that easy to search back through months of opinion pieces. There were several sneering at the peaceful vigils, celeb outpourings etc.. There was at least one by Hopkins that was as subtle as a brick about how we need to take action instead of cowering.

I think you need to separate the concepts of Islam and Islamism, and switch out the words in your question.
----
That would imply i'm ok with Islam.
On the contrary, I disagree with its precepts and i'm perfectly entitled to do so.
There will always be people who will use violence to further a political cause. Unless they openly advocate violence, blaming the media or journalists for these violent actions is a dangerous and lazy route to go down imo.
