La Liga/Serie A season 2023-24

Yeah that’s my thinking. Saka left and Sterling right. Could bring in Sancho on either side. Maybe Rashford but he’s looked crap in the games he’s played.

The logic behind Sancho not playing is baffling

posted on 22/6/21

I don’t even know what the logic is.

I understand it if he’s starting Rashford, Sterling and Grealish as they’ve performed better for England (albeit Grealish hasn’t actually had the impact in the final third that we’ve needed).

But playing Foden doesn’t make sense. He doesn’t suit how he’s being used, isn’t as good as Sancho and hasn’t been as good as him for England either.

Saka’s in then. Watch him play on the right and us have none of the full backs overlapping.

Sure it'll all be over for us by this time next week and then we can get back to dreading watching United play.

"Sancho needs others to link play for him."

"Also, Sancho and Rashford are more suited to teams that will come out and play and push higher."

What goes through people's minds when they watch Sancho play? If they even watch him at all.

Some of the things I see said about him are ridiculous.

Hopefully last night showed Southgate how important pace on the wings is. Saka (and Grealish) made the team infinitely more balanced than Mount and Foden. If that’s how we play the rest of the tournament I’m happy.

Spain made some changes but I don’t see how it helps the goalscoring issue

i don't see how it helps much either tbh

not impressed with those changes luis enrique has made

Admin should just make the name Morata into an automatic .

He’s doing even worse than normal. I put a very speculative bet on Morata golden boot and Italy top scorers before the Euro’s. Morata is going to let me down - I should have bet for Morata highest xG

They were very bright in the first half but their threat petered out quite a bit in the second. I'm not sure if that was part down to us being content with having the lead.

I hate that this team is all about doing just about enough to get the job done and nothing more.

I just worry about us when we inevitably go behind against one of the better nations. What will a team who attack with the handbrake on and don't create many clear cut chances do against teams which are harder to break down and more likely to hurt you at the other end?

When you're used to playing with so much restraint it can be difficult to go through the gears at the drop of a hat when you need to, sustain pressure and create enough meaningful chances.

I honestly think Rubiales paid the lad off

I don’t think he’s any better or worse, to be honest. The sample sizes aren’t the same, so it’s hard to judge consistency. But he has loads of good and bad games for them like he does for us.

It almost was Hungary.

They'd have caused us problems.

Can’t wait for us to lose on pens.

I thort England were sposed too have a tuff root thru knockout faze?

think winners will come from England half of drawer

Germany if they beat England or Netherlands if Germany beat England.

As someone who has been bit many times before and never really learns; I think England will beat Germany. I’ve not really been that impressed with the Germans - they have looked very chaotic and random in their performances.
I think their defence looks suspect and their attack disjointed. If England pick the right personnel (two quick wingers) then I think a lot of Germany’s weaknesses get exposed.

Also regarding Pogba I think he is better suited for international football - give him time on the ball and he’s lethal. There aren’t many players in the world with a better passing range & skillset than him - so many international teams don’t press as effectively as club teams while having high lines.

Combine that with a plethora of willing runners rather than just Rashford (also Mbappe is the best in the world at running in behind) and you really get the best out of him

posted on 24/6/21

I think he gets judged differently. International football is so often about moments, when he comes up with these in a United shirt but hasn’t run the game like people expect he gets criticised, it’s not the same with France.

Similarly, Pogba has really good games where he doesn’t score or assist for us and gets criticised. I find the narrative around his France and United performances weird, especially when you compare a seven game tournament to a 50 odd game season.

It's amazing really knowing what Pogba can do that there's actually a legitimate argument for us moving him on for the benefit of the team or supposed benefit.

He's not without his faults but I think it just indicates a significant failing on the club's part because in the five years he's been back at United we've not hired one attacking manager and we've not been able to build a fully functioning midfield.
