Wouldn't surprise me if the first half of the season was only fractionally more intense than an protracted preseason.

On the flip side, unless clubs specifically plan their squads' fitness cycles so as to dip around the World Cup break, it ought to find players in tip-top form.

I think it could be a great competition for quality and intensity, shame I won't be watching.

Most clubs have their own fitness cycles to select which parts of the season they want to prioritise to ensure the players don’t hit the ‘red zone’.

I could see a lot of clubs (with lots of internationals) going easy in training in the early season with a view that they don’t care about player conditioning for their international team. Then the March onwards period players hitting peak fitness.

A lot of the season may end up determining on how many international stars each team has.

It’s a facking shiiiiiitshow tbh

It’s why I think Liverpool will win the league. They don’t have many players that are key players for their national team. And the ones they do either haven’t qualified, aren’t nations likely to do well or they are the goalkeeper.

City don’t have that luxury, apart from Haaland.

Not sure how it will impact the top four. Arsenal are probably in the best position in that regard given how few internationals they have.

Not to anywhere near the same extent though - mostly that has impact on the final third/quarter of the season where teams who aren't going for anything stop trying

Oh, Colombia too so Diaz

We'll have Kulusevski, Reggie/Sess, Doherty, Royal (probs will be sold), Dier probs and Skipp missing out.

If we sign Bastoni and Spence those two as well.

Brazil have a goalie called Weverton

Konate probably won’t be there either. Trent, Henderson, Fabinho, Nukaku, Jota will probably be on the bench and Thiago and Firmino should be if they even make the squad.

It’s only Allison and VVD that are important players teams at the world cup.

We could benefit from it I suppose. Ronaldo, Maguire and Varane are the only players I can be sure will start.

Fred as well.

I can see Fabinho, Nukaku and Jota playing some serious minutes tbf.

We are a little facked that a lot of our best players (Lloris, Kane, Son, Romero, PEH, Bentancur) are seriously important for their country.

I'm glad we have players who don't go to that shower of a shte tournament. Only Nunez, Firmino and Jota from the attackers and Virgil and Trent from the defenders and it won't suprise me if Thiago isn't selected.

Who is the filtered guy?

posted on 13/6/22

Fabinho won’t. Nunkaku’s minutes will depend on Cavani’s fitness. Jota’s the one I’m unsure of because of how unpredictable Santos is with his attacking and midfield lineups.

That doesn't ring any bells. Was he the one with the racist Origi username?

I also realised that City are in year 3 (aka the off-cycle) of their PED cycle and Pool are in year 2 so that gives them an advantage as well.

Casimero is first choice. Fred and one other play with him, think Fred is the senior option. Fabinho is behind Casimero, I don’t think they’ve ever played together.

Not sure, might be. He’s a belleeend either way.

We released him. I’ve no idea where he’ll go. His wages are high and he’s a crock.
