It still piiiisses me off beyond belief that those absolute priiiiicks that run the football club didn’t position themselves so that Pep Guardiola became our manager.

If most people think we play good football now, could you imagine what our board would be like if we played anything like City?

JA606 would crash.

Who the hell thinks United play good football?

Man United fans. Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho have made many collectively forget what good football looks like.

Yup.

They've brainwashed a lot of people.

How many teams actually play consistently good footie in this league.

City, villa, Brighton from what I've seen, which isn't much tbf. Arsenal been putting together some decent moves lately aswell tbf.

Leeds and Leicester, even though they’ve played a bit more conservatively this season. Liverpool played some good stuff earlier in the season but aren’t in good form right now.

Thing is it’s hard to do consistently unless you’ve got the best players.

But Chelsea, United, Spurs haven’t had the right men to implement good football consistently.

Saka been doing really well on the right wing lately, end product has shot up. Unlucky he's got Sancho in front of him

England’s wide options are pretty ridiculous. Could be even better by the next world cup.

Mustafi in talks now to have his contract terminated.

So that's potentially Ozil, Sokratis, Kolasinac and Mustafi out this window, with Guendouzi, Torreira, Mkhitaryan and Martinez who left either on loan or permanently in Summer 2020.

I know we've got fack all in terms of transfer fees for most of these players, and for the ones we are looking to sell, we won't accumulate much either. But I'm just happy they're gone and most of whom won't be draining our wage bill.

We've done reasonably well offloading players.....though this is offset by the fact we signed facking Willian.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We haven't done reasonably well lmao. Paying players off to leave is a failure, hindsight says we should've just done this earlier and moved on.

Getting kolasinac to leave on loan was ok tbf.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry Tu, but I don't agree with this.

A lot of these guys were clogging up our wage bill and were signed pre-Arteta, some pre-Edu. They've inherited a mess, and many of whom have been a financial burden on the club, so to finally get them off the books to create space for other players whilst trying to implement a different culture (in theory), is a positive.

It's not ideal, as I'd prefer for us to have got transfer fees for these players. But with the money they were on, and the calibre of clubs interested in them, this was hardly likely.

We need to get the next part right, in terms of incoming transfers, but in terms of outgoings, when you look at it contextually, I maintain that we've done reasonably well considering the awful circumstances we were put in by the previous regime.

I think Lex also made a valid point a little while back in that sometimes it's not just about recouping money, it's also getting them out of the club by any means necessary because they are causing such toxicity and division.

This is particularly true with the players we've had.

Dont get me wrong. It's a good thing the wastrels are facking off.

I'm just not gonna sit here and pretend we've done a good job paying them to leave. It's literally the least we could do.

Yeah you can’t really say you got them ‘off the wage bill’ as you have literally paid of their wages for the remainder of the contract

Yup, it’s mad to think that almost 5 years ago players like Harvey Barnes and Eze would be starting for us. They don’t even get a thought now

Well yes, but whether we paid out the full remainder of their contracts or not isn't clear.

Some reports are saying Ozil forewent the £7m we owed him, although various sources aren't clear on this.

In any case, we needed them to leave and, even if it's come at a slight financial cost, it's worth it so we can move forward.

They are literally off the wage bill ahead of next season so I'm not complaining.

Barnes and Eze are good as well actually. I think Eze has been approached by Nigeria, so could end up playing for them.

Samir - they may be literally off the wage bill but it’s the same outlay (we don’t know the exact ins and outs regarding buyout). It’s clearly bad for the club financially otherwise every club would do it.

Darren - yup they are decent. Much better than Townsend or Downing or Walcott etc

Aaron Lennon and SWP. McClaren thought those guys were better bets than Beckham.

posted on 27/1/21

Lennon is one of my all time favs.

Ashley Young, Welbeck on the wing ffs, Oxlaide Chambo, the pedo.

Even Zaha when he wasn’t good enough got a cap, didn’t back his chances so went to Ivory Coast then became better than all our wingers bar Stering until about 3 years ago

Lennon was shiiiiiit, though.

He was decent for us in the late 00s. Until Modric etc came in and we stepped up

Walcott hat trick Vs Croatia

posted on 27/1/21

Lennon had one great game for England as well, I think it was against Germany?

That was about it.

Walcott had a second good game vs Brazil

posted on 27/1/21

Was talking more for England. Hard to decide who was worst out of him and SWP. Walcott was comfortably the best of the three for us.
