If Pep doesn't win the league then he's flopped big time. Meanwhile if Poch gets Spurs into the top 4 then he'll have done a fantastic job.

That's small club mentality. You finished second last season, you should be disappointed with anything but an improvement on that (not necessarily just in the league).

I think what Pep is saying is that he now has the players that he wants and can play totally the way he wants to do so, that's why it was better than any time last season.

Who said anything about disappointment? I'll be disappointed if we don't win anything. It doesn't mean Poch won't have done a fantastic job to get into the top 4 playing at a different ground with limited spending compared to the other big teams.

Because you've already set the standards of where you are placed, and provided excuses to soften the blow if you don't. You think Tottenham is over achieving if they get Top 4, when you placed second last year.

Peps opening line

"OK, it is pre-season, but we didn't have a performance last season of that quality and intensity," Guardiola said.

He knows its a pre season friendly.

Pochs opening line?

"They have invested more money than us and you can see we have a lot of young players on the bench," said Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is yet to add to his squad this summer.

You don't think replacing the home ground where you didn't lose all of last season and only drew twice, and replacing it with another ground, isn't an excuse? Sounds like a pretty good one to me.

Surprised by this Spurtle. You said I should've expected Liverpool to go from 8th to title challengers this time last pre season.

1) You didn't have any European football

2) You didn't replace Anfield as your home ground

3) You strengthened your side

I get that we may yet strengthen our side but right now with the sale of Walker, it doesn't look like it.

Again, I'm not saying that's what I want out of the season. I want trophies. You simply have to be realistic and realise Wembley should have an impact and therefore Poch will have done exceptionally well again to have overcome that to get a top 4 finish, along with a lack of spending compared to our rivals.

Chequebook Pep is under massive pressure to deliver this season after accumulating a disgusting £380m net spend on players alone so far.

Add to that, at the end of the season around another £500m spent on wages last year and this year, then a couple more big money signings and Pep`s spend will be approaching a staggering £1b in just 2 seasons.

Pep is supposedly `the best coach in the world` and yet needs almost a billion quid to compete.

Disgusting.

you said Liverpool should be challengers despite the fact City Chelsea and Utd spending a lot more and already far bigger and vastly more expensive squads and also Chelsea not having european football etc. Oh and we were in profit in the transfer market.

Make your mind up on being realistic

What are you talking about? What is your point?

I said both Chelsea and Liverpool should be challenging without European football. Chelsea went on and won the league comfortably, and Liverpool squeaked through to 4th place, yet they still strengthened and should have done better in the league.

Spurs are guaranteed at least £120m in TV money and have just got £45m for Walker.

If Poch doesn't want to spend that money, that's fine but failing to do better than last season with all that money available will be seen as failure.

Spurs have had plenty of seasons without European football at WHL. What's the excuse for not challenging for the league in over 50 years?

Liverpool the season before last, like Chelsea, were bigger and better clubs than their PL positions would have you believe. Liverpool had CL only the season before didn't they, or was it in that same season? They had spent a shed load on players and then brought in one of the top managers in the game. You could not say that about Spurs any time they were achieving mediocrity in mid-table and avoiding Europe.

Who is blaming anyone? . Last time I looked at a league table, we were well above ya.
