My questions are -

1 given that I like grey goose...which other brands would you recommend?
2 are there any mixers you would suggest....do some go better with particular brands?

I know it's a matter of personal taste but you seem to have committed a bit of time to some serious research.

I much prefer the Russian Vodkas (or at least East European) than European or Scandinavian ones

I would always go for Russian Standard or Stolynichyia <sp>, the reason being is that in East Europe it is drank neat and I could drink any one of those neat but would really struggle with other brands. Belvedere is also good but it is over priced IMO for what you get

I always have coke but lemonade and lime is also ok, as you say the mixer is more personal choice and it has to be a can or bottle of Coca Cola for me. Not the skooshy stuff and certainly not Pepsi

My mate was involved in the start up of a Scottish Vodka company and its called Valt, it was very good and I was very surprised

The other good thing about vodka is that it does not show on your breath the next day and I never have a hangover as long as I don't mix it with beer

Btw..totally agree. Rum is my usual tipple but I hate pubs that don't have bottled or canned Coke. Skooshy stuff or any Pepsi can seriously waste even the best drinks IMO.

I was thinking about Russian standard so I will give that a go.

Ended up with needing an upper endoscopy after a few absinthe binges, to check what i had did to my stomach.

About a decade later I slowly stamped a lit cigarette out on my forehead(Admin2 tried to stop me), after an absinthe binge. I ended out with a perfect red dot in the centre of my head for many months, now its just hardly noticeable white scare tissue.

We used to sniff it from a teaspoon in Baku Admin, the bottles did not look like that though. Looks like you had the real strong stuff
