Part of it is that they pay sh!t wages though.

That's why Utd generally get buttons for their players.

Yeap. That is why we end up getting £5m for an England international left back and struggle to sell many others.

Are they good or, as I see it, Arsenal just really bad.

Kind of adds to the OP's point tbf lol.

It's also why they'll never win anything too.

It's hilarious that Levy is put on some sort of pedestal.

Yes he does get some good deals for players (just like a lot of clubs do) but his record as a buyer is very hit and miss (Bentley, GDS, Sissoko, Jansen, Bent, Soldado, Capoue to name a few). Even for a relative low spender he has been seriously mugged off on a good few occasions.

Remember the "magnificent seven"?

There was a stat the other day that at the time we got £10m for Szczesny, that was the only time we'd got over £5m for a player in the past 3 seasons. It's incredible when you think about it. We're either abysmal in trading our players, the likes of Chelsea and Spurs get lucky to be dealing with mugs all the time, or we have a big squad of garbage that no one wants.

I'm still stunned at how the fack Spurs just got almost £20m for a defender that has barely played in 2 years for them (even some youngster, Carters-Vickers was ahead of the guy at a stage). Meanwhile, we just sol Gibbs, an England international for £5m.

More to do with the fact we haven't sold anyone. Vermaelen went for £15m in 14/15 season, plus pretty much £10m for Vela clause buy out. Only notable sales in that time.

Every club has bought duds. He also signed the likes of Eriksen, Alli and Alderweireld on the cheap: 3 of the best players in the league in their positions. And the likes of Walker. And Rose. And Dier. And Dembele. And Wanyama. He made a big money signing of Son, and could have sold Son for bigger money last summer, but rejected the chance to. He's an infinitely superior CEO to Gazidis. And earns less than Gazidis too.

Of Course he is, but no offense Arsenal's structure is so fecked comparing someone favourably against that is like being the tallest man in a dwarf contest.

He's got good deals at good prices too but no more that what we have in recent years and our board gets peltered.

Not the case all time with Chelsea. Chalobah was sold for £5m to Watford. Not to mention that we sold Lukaku and KDB for considerably less than they were worth a couple of years later.

Our big deals have mainly been involving Chinese clubs.

KDB granted still can't get over that one but selling Lukaku and getting Costa for only £4m more has been more than justified.

Then name a CEO in the PL currently better than Levy.

Gabriela for 9 million

Thankfully clubs look at the total cost of a transfer not just the fee, wages agent fees etc inc. If a club wanted Jesse Lingard for example they'd have to factor in 4 years of 100k a week maybe more which in itself is 21million ffs.

Wimmer is a decent player, you'll see that at Stoke. Capoue was labelled a Spurs flop but he's done well at Watford

posted on 29/8/17

Looks like we're only getting 5m for Gibbs! If we're not getting a bit off Evans as part of the deal, that's a pretty crap amount. I know Gibbs is just a squad player, but he's got plenty of PL experience capped for England, and still just 27,we should be able to get much more than 5m when you look at the other deals going on. We must be desperate to offload players!

Gets some bargains but those are the glaringly obvious ones that you or I could find. For every Alderweireld there's an N'Jie and for every Eriksen there's a Sissoko.

You do realise that applies to every club? I'd say we get more right than most

And I think many Arsenal fans would appreciate if their board would for once sign the obvious players. It's something to be praised, not dismissed

posted on 29/8/17

I'm well aware it applies to all clubs, I've never said or implied that it was exclusive to us. Arsenal do sign obvious players they just don't have a manager who knows how to utilise them
