Aaron Ramsey the conundrum

We should try him at CAM instead of Ozil or at RM.

As a part of a CM that's supposed to control a game and keep danger from our defense he just doesn't work, certainly not when partnered with any of our current options.

He is no different with Arsenal to how he is with Wales.

Quite skillful, bit selfish and very good at looking shocked when he's just missed a chance.

Problem is unlike with Wales, when he loses the ball on the edge of the opponents box with Arsenal - there are only two players behind and between him and Cech.

he gets carried by Bale

ramsey is a fraud

No he doesn't. Bale did not have a good game for Wales on Saturday night, Ramsey played much better.

Yes Bale is probably our one world class player, but Aaron Ramsey is key to this Welsh side, and we are a lot poorer without him.

Yes, the Welsh did well at home to Austria. Had to happen sooner or later after 5 straight draws in their qualifying campaign.

Chris Coleman has used as many different formations as he's had qualifying games. Throw enough things at the wall and something's bound to stick.

It's not just against Austria, though. He's been consistently excellent for Wales for years and during their most successful period for over half a century has been second only in influence to Bale, and that isn't by a long way.

To me the main difference is that he's got a whole team set up to defend, first and foremost, and rely on him and Bale - by and large - to create something and win it for them. Playing further forward as the most creative player in the team suits him far better than at Arsenal, where we have several players (Ozil, Xhaka, Sanchez and Ramsey) who consistently try to create things and therefore concede possession a lot more regularly than safe "crab" players like Elneny. Because he isn't as good as Ozil or Sanchez and doesn't have the range of passing from deep that Xhaka has, he stands out as the weakest of that quartet a lot of the time and the fact that he's also played deeper, without a defensive midfielder to screen the back four, exposes his defensive liabilities too.

He doesn't take a stupid shot 90% of the time wasting plays for Wales. Ruins so many of our attacks

It's the shocked look as he misses that does my head in.

Surprised, then grimaces. As if it's a conspiracy.

He would look good at a team where he is a vocal point. I actually think if we ditched Ozil he would be more effective.

I always talked of Ramsey as the Welsh Gerrard. I was wrong. He doesn't have the discipline. And for Wales he is given a free role for that very reason. Could he do better than Ozil in free role behind the striker? I doubt it. Should we replace Ozil if he leaves next season? I think we should.

Ramsey is trash. Playing him further forward is a silly suggestion as he offers nothing whatsoever.
Even more silly to suggest us dropping Ozil for this guy.

I think the best position for Ramsey is backup to Alexis in a Pires type role. Ramsey is no way near the quality of Pires's finishing which is why I think he shouldn't be a starter but he can actually cover the ground more than Pires could and is a better finisher than Iwobi.

The only place he would be Centre piece would be one which is fully mid table that's not us yet.

Ozil runs around a lot and does nothing aswell

2 FA Cup winning goals. 5 times as many tackles as Xhaka this season.

Its down to wenger. PLayers like Ramsey and Ozil dont become bad whe they play for us, they do a job in a team and position they have been asked to do. Ramsey is a good player, contrary to popular belief. He is just being used badly and fans expect too much from him. I dont often saythat about a player but he is expected to stay back and defend and help the attack.. Whenever he does the job he is given and less of the other he gets stick for not doing enough. He is a utility player that can help out all over the pitch and I think at one time or another has played every position for Arsenal except CB and CF.

If Wenger set up a team to use players in their strongest position and formation that works well for all the players in the team we would be title winners. But instead he sets up the team in formations that he likes, shoehorns players into it in unnatural roles and gets away with it because fans who dont know any better blame the players. Everyone loses.

Ramsey could be a crucial player for us in our titanic battles with WBA.

Ramsey is a very good tackler and our best option for goals from midfield. Not sure where all this hate comes from.

This is pretty fair, although Ramsey doesn't do himself any favours when he does stuff like he did against Liverpool for whichever goal it was when he was halfway across the pitch looking the wrong way..

That was a low point for him, cant argue with that. He obviously wanted to get a point across to Ox, maybe something like "You still play for us for facking traitor, act like it". He clearly wasnt happy. The ball was given away cheaply again. and I can understand why he didnt expect us to lose the ball like that, but it doesnt excuse him.

Already done an article with this link, but I agree with what Ramsey is credited with in this.

Yep. Playing with noobs does tend to do that with good players.
Have a look at how he rips ish apart when he plays for Germany.
