I don't know about other managers, but Jose played his first XI in all the domestic cup competitions last season.

No he didn't, stop lying.

“I think what it means for a big team to win trophies is to win the Premier League or Champions League."

This is where Poch has it wrong. A big club doesn't just to try to win 2 of the trophies, a big club tries to win ALL the trophies on offer. Jose, Conte, Guardiola these guys will want to win all the trophies not just the PL or CL.

The day Spurs started their stadium project is the day they sold their soul. Now, you will have to put up with this modern day football, ie competing for the top6 finish in the league. No glory whatsoever in the near future.

Poch is right not to go for the fa cup because spurs have never won a fa cup match at wembley because of the hoodoo

the carabao is an unwanted distraction - hopefully poch wll give the youngsters a run out instead

poch is right to go for the PL and CL even tho CL is out of reach but the PL is a real possibility.

however that said - spurs greatest achievemen this season is to break the wembley hoodoo in the PL and the fa cup.

This will explain p!ss poor performances against lower teams in FA and League Cups

Didn't we put a pretty strong line up out in first LC game?

Sure Eriksen & Lamela both scored in it

I actually cannot believe he's used Wigan as an example. As if Spurs are any way in an identical position to the one that Wigan were in several years ago.

I get what he is trying to say and to an extent, he does have a point, but if he showed a little bit more respect in the cup competitions and Spurs went far, it could give them the impetus they need to go on and win more.

Winning breeds (more) winning.

Obviously the less that Spurs win, the better it is for me as an Arsenal fan, but from a general fan/manager's perspective, he shouldn't come across as being dismissive.

We need to be realistic. Keeping the likes of Kane, Eriksen etc and attracting players of that quality or better won't be based on us winning the league cup, it'll come down to us competing for the top trophies. If we had more depth to our squad then we'd be able to chop and change with less disparity in the teams - that's what I've been saying all along.

Well if he wants to win the Prem so much, WTF did he play players out of position on Sunday?

Saturday not Sunday.

Dont blame the selection

blame the wembley hoodoo - its very real.

I like Poch - hes a very ambtious manager dreams to take surs to a place its never been before and that is he premier league title - unfortunately for him spurs have a massive premier league wembley hoodoo.

If spurs did not have the wembley hoodoo - spurs wud have won 5 out of 5.

Are you 11 years old?

no im not but poch being in charge of spurs makes me feel 11 years old

i swear it will be a travesty if poch spurs dont win the PL title simply becos you have the TEAM.

unfortunately wembley hoodoo wants to see you down.

i darent think what will happen next season when spurs move into the new white hart lane where the football pitch is expected to be the same size as wembley.

not only that but this TEAM will split when these players know that spurs will always be a nearly team.

Can you post a comment without saying hoodoo?

posted on 18/9/17

yes i can make a comment without saying the h word

but yall need to acknowledge this thing exist.

it cud be very detrimental to spurs PL title challenge and possibly top 3-4 status.

Tbf, pretty much all the top sides give minutes to their second choice players in the early rounds of the cups.

However, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure pochettino put out his first choice xi when he lost the fa cup semi final 4-2. And the league cup final a couple of years ago.

Reason he's saying this is cos he knows spurs can't win the bigguns, and because hes not very likely to win the domestic cups.

Just gives him a nice excuse to fail in the cups.

As long as he knows when to prioritise. If we're still dropping points at Wembley in a couple of months time and way off the pace of the leaders, then we need to abort PL ambitions in favour of any cup games when it comes to them.

IMO honest Poch should should target a cup this year because on what I've seen so far this year we will struggle to make top 4.

Both Manchester clubs look unstoppable so far whilst Chelsea are grinding out results.

We've dropped 7 points at Wembley already .this season but with all respect to Burnley and Swansea we should be sticking 3 or 4 past that lot.

For a team manager to say his targeting the prem and champions league is ambitious but this season we need to accept we are already out of the title race .

Whilst the champions league is great we will be fortunate to get out of our group.

The Utd dominance for nearly 20 years was started on a FA CUP win.

We started that season with 2 points from first 3 games and 8 points from first 5 and we only scored 3 and conceded 2 in our first 5 league games. Spurs scored 7 and conceded 3 and have 8 points. I think our 07/08 side were the best side I ever watched as a Man Utd fan but still even we had a sluggish start and won the Premierleagu and CL so it can be done from a bad start.

So you actually want Poch to say words of this effect to the team? "Guys, even though we are just a few games into the season, we need to accept that we are not good enough to challenge the PL right now"

I'd sack him on the spot personally.

Far too early to start drawing conclusions. All i know is that we have a very good team more than capable of challenging for major titles this season, and we just need to play at our optimum performance level, which we have had glimpses of, but not found any consistency yet.
