That said, let's not lose sight of the task at hand, a top two finish is the only thing the club will be focused on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Top place only if we want to emulate our last success under Mick.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We won't be caring about emulating Mick, we will be caring about gaining promotion and then comfortably surpassing Mick's achievements from our prem spell.

Speaking for myself, I certainly don't care a toss about emulating anyone. I just want us in the prem and establishing ourselves there with some sort of improvement season on season, pretty much like West Brom actually!
And I reckon I speak for the vast majority of Wolves fans when I say that.
Amen gem, couldn't give a feck how we get there, first, second, sixth, makes no difference and has no bearing on what follows once we are there, the only thing that matters is that we actually have some kind of plan beyond 'lets defend for our lives and hope for the best'.

No, you only get challenged when you post drivel, condescending remarks, rude or insulting comments, or utter nonsense.
Let's be honest Bute, you have had a shocker along with a few others here the last several months.

Well i'm old enough to have witnessed several title wins in the "2nd Division", and to say it's not important to want to be champions is just nonsense.
Isn't important though is it in the grand scheme of things.
Who won this division last season? I cant even remember, I just see three championship sides now playing in the premier league, last seasons achievements have quite literally zero bearing.
Of course it's important to win things.
It's a trophy.
It's more money.
It's kudos.
It's excitement for the fans.
It's a higher profile.
Etc....
I, for one, would love to see us win the league. If we can't win it, I would love to see us second. If not first or second, I would take a play-off win as a distant "third prize".
Like the old saying goes; "no one remembers second place".
And for Cinciwolf who appears to be having memory issues; Newcastle won the Championship last season.

Managers will say they're not thinking that far ahead, etc., but of course Nuno will be wanting to win the title. Being promoted any which way (as those across the pond say) is vital, of course, but the league itself is a competition, and I for one would like to see us go up as champions.
The aim is the title and that would be great for everyone associated at the club. I can understand cinci not being bothered. Football is his 6th favourite sport and he doesn't rate the championship and doesn't rate the premier league so I'm sure where we finish matters little to him. But to the vast majority of Wolves fans winning the title would be another fine achievement for the club to look back on through the roll of honours.

Complete crap from the usual suspects.
The aim is promotion and first would be the best way to do it, but there is not a single fan that will be disappointed at the end of the season if we don't finish first so long as we gain promotion.

Not sure what your history is with other posters, Cinciwolf, but I can assure you that I post based on my own views and is nothing to do with being a "usual suspect" as you state.
To me, football is all about winning. If Wolves win more games than the other teams, we win the league, simple as that. We get all of the things that I mentioned above (trophy, kudos, money, prestige etc...). The fans get to see us parading with a cup around the ground and Wolves get a higher profile because of it.
Don't get me wrong, I would take promotion by way of the play-offs if it were offered now, but out of that, second or being champions, I want to be known as the best team in the division this season and to be crowned champions in May.
This is why teams play football; to be known as champions, not to be known as finished 5th but sneaked a play-off win.
Your last line is a complete myth these days if you have been paying attention, teams are rewarded for being far less than champions now.
Top four go into the champions league, the sixth best in a division can win a play off final etc.
