The last enjoyable game in the PL that.
Just shows how much the games changed, years ago players would have it out with each other using fists or boots or whatever, now as shown in that vid, they flock to the ref en masse trying to get him to brandish cards, all tell tale tiiiits nowadays
The biggest joke was Chelsea getting fined more for that game than Spurs
Unsurprising though from the incompetent FA
You just don't see it so much these days. My all time fave is Franny Lee vs Norman Hunter. Hunter threw a punch with no warning, Lee retaliated. They were on their way off the pitch when Lee discovered that his bottom teeth had gone through his lip. He then makes a very creditable attempt to kill Hunter.
Tbh I thought that Chelsea - Spurs match was the best game of the season, pulsating stuff
That said, it was really just a one-off, although there's passion in the stands when the two meet its' rare for the games to be quite that "aggy."
Back in the Keane - Viera days there were quite a few United-Arsenal games which boiled over, you also throw O'Leary's Leeds team into the mix along with a Dennis Wise-led Chelsea and we had loads of games that were similar to the game in the OP.
Leeds - Arsenal between '99 and about '02-03 was carnage at times but with some top players playing some great football, brilliant for neutral fans.
Surely the rule changes are to blame.
Surely it goes back to the debate about there being less characters/leaders in the game. It was often those types of players who would get into confrontations. The modern day millionaire before they're 20 athletes who are wrapped in cotton wool from an early age simply seem to lack that same passion, of if they do have it channel it in a different way.
But then again there never seems to be a lack of fire in El Classico games, maybe players in the PL are less aware of rivalries, could be something to do with there being less British players, the ones who grew up fully aware of the rivalries between domestic clubs.
There were some brutal challenges in that game.

Rivalries tend to flourish when there is, or what appears to be, genuine contempt between players or managers.
I think Conte v Mourinho could potentially get interesting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't see it, Mourinho's trying to force it but Conte is ignoring him. They had a brief altercation in the FA Cup game but beyond that Antonio doesn't seem at all interested in any 'war' with Jose.
That Chelsea Tottenham game is already a PL classic. What a game.

My personal favourite is Willian getting fouled by Kane then Dembele lumping the ball at his head as he hit the floor at 06:00
-------------------------------
My personal favourite is Willian stroking his Gold Premier League winners badge at the Spurs fans at 3:00, knowing full well that they won't ever get one.
Yeah they will be talking about that for years when reminisce about this game
"Remember when Willian stroked his badge?"
"Yeah, it was awesome"
Or...
"Remember Dier almost cutting Fabregas in two?"
A sight most neutrals thoroughly enjoyed
When u win something come back, until then u have nothing to say.
Did u enjoy seeing us win tonight coz what u think is relevant is actually nothing?

Look, just because the neutrals loved seeing Fabregas get a bit, do not get wound up about it. You probably secretly enjoyed it.
Ledley, the one thing we agree on is that the game was a classic and yes we enjoyed it probably even more than you guys did, because we achieved our objectives, which was to stop you and you didn't achieve yours, which was to win. If one of ours gets kicked up in the air by one of yours to achieve that, who honestly gives a fack? As long as our players are OK afterwards it's nothing to write home about.
The only lasting thing that the neutral fans will remember is that Chelsea helped Leicester win the league and the following season won it themselves, and both were at Spurs expense, which was what my point was.

Mate, you were running a ball to a corner to waste time when you were drawing a game at home . Not exactly the proudest moment in your history that.
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest memories of that game for the neutral will be us kicking lumps out of you. If that did not happen, the only fans who would remember that game would be you, us and Leicsester.

We enjoyed it immensely. It kept our 27 year undefeated record at the Bridge against you going. Have Spurs with their proud history never had a moment when they were hanging on at home to get a result? We also took great pride in winning the League ourselves the following season. These are tangibles.
Sorry but it's a results business and people only ever remember the winners.

The game was there for the taking, 2-0 down back to 2-2 and Spurs heads gone. There was no way we were winning that game
Took it to the corner instead . Shocking really
Mate, a draw was enough for us but not for you. Pragmatic football at it's finest.
Seriously you haven't got anything with any validity here. You're clutching at straws IMO. I think I need to get another photo done with the Premiership trophy. I don't think they do ones with me dribbling over to the corner flag.
