Poor defending.
Poor concentration to make a 60-40 ball a 40-60 ball and then instead of using his brain and jockeying he just made the idiotic decision to clatter into him.
Absolutely shocking and after the great start he has made this season its such a disappointment.
He was having a bad time of it. He's been excellent this season but he does have this 'loss of head' streak in him ( remember Sutton?) which can cost us. Left Pennington with his chance now- and he certainly looked good alongside Pontus
Not trying to defend him, but the best defender in world does that 3 or 4 times. It's stupid and it happens.
Shout get maximum fine and it could undone his great start to season and might struggle to get back in after suspension
Everyone thinks he has really improved this season and being captain has given him responsibility, but tonight he reverted back to the guy who stamped on another player at the end of last season and got a 4 match ban! He did not set a good example tonight and I would think twice about his keeping the captaincy. The team were already up against it tonight when his stupidity made a difficult job impossible.
Handball against villa, stamp against reading... we hoped they were things of the past but sadly seems he just has it in his locker...it's like he makes a mistake and his head goes... he made football mistakes then errors of judgment tonight. Not acceptable.3

Absolute bollox.
Team chose him as captain because they look up to him. Chaging captaincy now over such a small thing is just ridiculous.
Fair enough if the team want him as captain. Personally I would prefer Ayling myself
Plenty of deserved praise for Cooper this season so far, but am really disappointed in Coopers lack of control tonight. It's not the fact he got sent off which disappoints me (we've all suffered the rush of blood madness) it's the fact that as captain he wasn't able to recognise what a vital match this was and being 2 goals down, what a devastating blow to his teams chances of recovery going down to 10 men would be.
For me this is a massive character flaw, which undermines all the good work he's put in so far. Might be difficult to trust his judgement going forward (not ideal in a captain!)
Genuinely, hope he can recover some of the goodwill he has inevitably lost with the fans tonight, but as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, he does have form for this sort of thing..!!
Ill discipline. What a stupid time to tackle like that.
Agree with most on here, the situation last night was one when you need your captain to stand up and be counted - not lose his head and take the team down to 10 men. Its not the only time, Sutton springs to mind amongst others
